So are you saying we cannot judge sin? Everything goes? Jesus never meant for us not to judge sin, he meant us not being hypocritical, blind, self-righteous judging. We make judgements every day. Sounds like new age Christian beliefs have entered your brain. That bludgeon has stopped true discussion on the issues of sin because people pull that card out and think that is the end of the discussion. There is a lot more to that statement, grabbing one verse it is easy to make any argument, but then it loses context when you take the totality of scripture.
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Of course, this is a mere excerpt from What Christ Said with more nuance in Matthew 7:1-5.
To wit:
7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone
This is an excerpt from John 8, when a bunch of old guys tried to get Jesus, the Christ to be complicit in stoning a woman.
Christ exposed their hypocrisy, and as is shown, they had no choice but to self confess and depart.
Tomorrow many Christian denominations honor Palm Sunday. John 12 is what our family read to prepare.
Christ is clear. 89 chapters, again, just 126 pages in your average Gideon bible.
And never forget this:
Just going to a church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you a car.
