There never is a good time unless you're announcing your retirement in the next 1-2 years.

Read last night that LSU went after Kelly when they announced Ed O is finished.

Lax, hearing anything coming out of the meeting?

Who knows anything but I saw that they wanted Riley and when he signed with USC they full court pressed BK

He can have all of those guys, except Elston. I wonder if Elston stays if promoted to DC.

That seems to have been started by some random ND unverified Twitter account (Prime ND or something). They immediately went on to say that they actually think Elston might be staying.

Also their first source said no one was going and their second source said the above.

I would only miss Elston. And I’d kick in a little money for the plane ticket for Rees to go. He’s going to get excoriated in the SEC.

Only thing that worries me is Elston has been with BK from his MAC days.....I expect him to follow to LSU

Someone needs to deepfake Freeman into the Young Pope's face when he burns the boats in his speech to the Cardinals.

While I'm at it, pass that plate of crow. I was certain Kelly wouldn't leave.

Two words: Bob Stoops.
He always wanted to coach under the dome, maybe being the interim at OK will help him realize he should come back to coaching.

Plus, he quit his job at Fox to look for "other oppurtunities."

Riley gave Oklahoma like 2 minutes supposedly. There’s not a whole lot to say in that situation.

Now that I think about it, maybe Savvy Jack gave him five minutes and then showed him the door.

There's no reason for Kelly to linger. I'm sure he was matter of fact and told the players they are in good hands with coach Freeman now and wished them luck.

Sorry for my ignorance on this, but *if* championship week plays out well for ND (GA, Houston, Iowa, etc. win), could BK's departure, in and of itself, prevent ND from getting into the CFP?

I’m sure the committee members would say no publicly, but I would guess that, yes, it’s probably an impossibility we make the playoff now. ALL the dominoes would have to fall, rather than just one, IMO.

I know, right. If there were any justice in the universe, the GREATEST thing that could happen now is that we get in, run the table and win this thing. Then Swarbrick gets on the podium and says “it’s so sweet win a national title. Turns out, the only thing holding us back was Brian Kelly. Best of luck in your future endeavors, coach!”

i think once things settle down most fans will realize this, Kelly left ND in a good place and there are plenty of candidates available to succeed him within the program or with ties to ND. When coaches move programs now they have to leave abruptly or else they are damaging their chances at their new schools when it comes to recruiting and the early signing day

And then we build a Natty statue for Interim Head Coach Marcus Freeman.

Flint leaving is not good at all. But it’s also probably in the “necessary evil” category if he’s getting their head strength spot and Balis is staying
