The TE position completely disappeared from 2014-16 under Scott Booker.
When Booker was hired, the rationale was that he would be a great recruiter.

Classes you hurry and scrap together right before signing day because of a coaching turnover historically have been full of busts and attrition
Found a few posts about Denbrock on Tigerdroppings. It looks like they would probably skeptical about the hire as a number of posters pointed out that BK basically demoted him at ND and that's why he left. Going to be a tough sell.
It's not about that. It's about keeping the few commits they have. They're going to literally sign like 5 dudes at this rate.
I personally never liked the LaFleur hire. Can’t say anything else really.
Understand that. I’m just saying, and this is from Bud at 247, that historically it is not beneficial to rush anything to just get numbers in a class before signing day on a new hire. If it’s 5 kids, it’s 5 kids and you hit the portal and move onto to 2023.
I may be on an island and team not pile on too much on BK, if he’s as dumb as we’d like to think it likely doesn’t spell good news for a staff full of his hires still in South Bend lol
Edit: Faulk’s daughter passed away, and sounds like he has plans to step away from coaching for the time being.
Not even in hindsight? He is a pretty damn successful coach now, lol
I know Golsen fell off a cliff after the game in the desert at ASU but he was playing at a really high level before that. Not sure how much of that I put on Matt LaFleur vs. Golsen just losing his confidence mentally after a tough game.
YES..I mean he hit and quit it.
I always saw Golson differently, more piano player than football player, sensitive but with skill that transcended his love for the game. He was cut differently from Kurt Hinish.

Bad recruiter and subpar position coach. Another coach that Kelly "parted ways with".

I really hope the LSU fanbase meets what a Kelly RKG is in his culture overhaul.
Recruited Durham Smythe, Nic Weishar, Tyler Latua, Alize Mack, Brock Wright & Cole Kmet.
Did his job on the trail and the production was as much the scheme / QB's NEVER-EVER looking at TE's fault as it was any coaching he did.
Any bets as to how long BK will last at LSU? I’d seriously be surprised if it’s 3 seasons. Could be 1!

BK will have the same success he had in SB, but that won't be good enough for LSU. 9/10 win seasons while getting smacked every year by Bama and losing to A&M, Ole Miss or Auburn here and there. ND was happy BK won 1 big game and that was in OU in what 2012? My prediction is... He gets fired between year 3 and 4 or canned in the middle of year 4 after Arkansas beats them at home by 20.
and losing to A&M, Ole Miss or Auburn here and there.
or Duke, or Northwestern, or Navy or USF or Tulsa…
I don’t want this to sound like sour grapes because I actually want BK to succeed there generally speaking, but I am struggling to find 6 wins on that schedule.
FSU- Toss Up
Southern- Win
Mississippi State- Toss Up
New Mexico- Win
@ Auburn- Loss
Tennessee- Toss Up
@ Florida- Toss up
Ole Miss- Toss up
Alabama- Loss
@ Arkansas- Toss up
UAB- Win
@TAMU- likely loss
3 guaranteed wins, 2 definite losses and 1 likely loss, 6 toss ups. Could see a 4-0 start or could very easily see them at 2-8 going into UAB.
If he loses to Tennessee or Miss St I don't know that his fan base would let him leave the stadium
Really? How many times have you been in Tiger Stadium?
Were you there on September 30, 2017 when they lost to Troy 24-21?
What did those great Tiger fans do?
Didn't they in fact stay committed to the Tigers and did that not result in a championship two years later?
You're out of your league Donny.
Here is who is in the league
Scott Woodward, born in Baton Rouge, and an LSU alum
the coach he just hired
Woodward knows why he is the AD
and why he hired the coach
And woodward knows how to speak "LSU"
