Thank you for the insight! I was questioning the infidelity aspect .

This wont go well, but I feel like BK did something far worse than a dude getting a little HEY HEY on the side a few years ago on a windy day.

Hes an unproven commodity with a short track record. Notre Dame was never gonna hire him in 2016. They could consider it now, I still dont think hes cut out for an elite football program. He may prove me wrong
Well he's got more top 5 wins than BK so there's that.

I won't speculate about BK did or didn't do, or even Fleck did or didn't do. It's all gossip and drama. I'm worried about the product on the field. PJ Fleck has youth, energy, and passion on his side. BK looks like a burned out dude just hanging on because he doesn't want to lose his job.

ND will do that. I'm definitely impressed with Fleck, and am watching him with great interest, but I don't think beating Franklin at home is some crazy feat that means he's clearly a massive upgrade. Of course, I've always been a big "Franklin is mediocrity personified" proponent.

It's a bigger accomplishment than BK has here. BK wouldn't beat PSU with Minnesota's roster. Hell I don't think this BK beats PSU with our roster.

Penn State is not even a top 10 team and everyone knows it
Okay, if ND just beat the #4 team y'all would be lighting the media on fire to crow about it. I mean does anyone have a good win this year if we can just sit back and say "well ackshually they weren't really that good to begin with." Everyone said Michigan sucked and they sodomized us so maybe sometimes our subjective perceptions are wrong.

I'm of the opion that unless UM is chomping at the bit to come here and the admin has had a change of hearts and would bring him in we roll with Kelly for at least next year. Fleck probably has one more season at Minnesota in him. The buyout would be too big after this year.

But if he somehow beats OSU we might have to make the move this offseason.

Does Brian Kelly follow Ed Orgeron's footsteps once he leaves Notre Dame football for a big boy school? (or no italics)

Fleck's done a great job at Minnesota. I'm sure he'll get some looks. But he's probably a year away from an elite job, and beating Penn State at home does not really make one an upgrade over BK.
Also didn't he just sign an extension this week?

He may not coach at ND but the only reason he may be a year away is due to that large first year buy out.

He's ready and the market will want him now.

I love to see Kelly’s fire in this game. He was laying Polian out. Which he deserves it. He can recruit but can’t coach.

Why does Jamir Smith have a great first half then get benched for Carlos Calabrese I mean Tony Jones?

Jones is definitely a better back than Smith at this point. No reason for Armstrong to be getting carries though.

Jones is better because he's reliable in pass pro.

He's not even close to a better runner than Smith.
Oh, must be someone else averaging 2 yards per carry more than Smith then. Nope. It's Jones...

Probably because smith trips over his own feet (and his QBs)

No doubt. How did he not score on that first TD drive? Just keep your feet. To be fair, Wallace Wade’s turf was shit so maybe the kids were programmed for field turf. Our RB corps is really unimpressive. I don’t blame Long for going to Book as the primary runner but w/ the OL down two starters it may be the best option.

Watch the presser.

Kelly won't give up this team.

He will have to be shown the door.

So for all you who want him gone, better put your money on a billboard or hope ND loses to Navy.

Would it really surprise you if they did?

No, it wouldn't. I'm just stating that I don't think it will be because he wants that. I think he's fatigued but his comments about putting in work suggest that he is still coaching and values his experience at ND.

I mean, I was saying this earlier to a friend, I can only realistically see 3 scenarios where BK isn't the coach next year 1) If he leaves for USC/FlaSt 2) They lose 2 more games 3) He steps down because he's had enough. I think option 1 is the only truly realistic scenario, and even that has a really low possibility of happening.

Honestly, I think it will be an uphill battle if he loses even one more (that isn't the bowl game). This is a very real possibility. We all can sense that a change is stirring, so I am sure he is feeling the heat. I respect the fact that he is still protecting his guys and even encouraging Book. It isn't easy for us fans who are curious to see PJ play, but I'm sure it's even harder for a coach to stick with a guy that nearly everyone thinks should be replaced. Essentially, he's rolling with his QB 'til the end.

What do you see in Smith that Jones can't do as good or better?

Noticeably more athletic. Hits holes immediatly (Jones isnt bad at that, Jamir is just better), stays incredibly low, always falls forward for an extra yard, runs extremely hard (not that Jones doesn't, but Smith moreso).

I don't even think it's a question Smith is our best RUNNER.
