I'm someone who believes in owning up when they're wrong. A couple weeks ago I threw some serious shade on the ND coaches for swinging for the fences on 5:s: recruits to close classes instead of going for low hanging fruit. It was a big post... I forget what thread it was in... but a lot of you said I was being stupid... and you were right!

Alford held onto Folston and ended up pulling two ELITE RBs out of Florida fending off ACC/SEC advances late in the race. That was mighty impressive. Even more impressive was Denbrock landing a top 10 national recruit from California... a recruit who we didn't even make his original top 15. All three of these prospects had zero lean towards ND in the beginning of the process and we closed on in a matter of weeks... weeks of really hard work and excellent recruiting. I'm so impressed right now and just thrilled that we closed the class with effectively zero open scholarships (the last remaining scholarship will likely go to either Tausch or Slaughter if he wins his appeal) and a full 85 heading into the spring.

Anyone else say something dumb this season and want to own up to it? Post it below!

LAX, you're never short on passion and devotion for the IRISH, brother. Right now we're ALL stupid with celebration!

I vividly remember blasting the staff's "inability to close" after last year's NSD debacle.

SMH.

Who was the one that said Alford was overrated as a recruiter?

No one said that...myself and a few others said the Denbrock was as good a recruiter as Tony.

False, someone did say it.

I remember the post because GB, Ironman, and few others laughed at it

Edit: Arghhhhh I can't find the f*cking post!

Big Lou and Diaco had a huge impact on this commit as well.

I think this staff is built of great, great recruiters, but there is no doubt in my mind Alford is the best. Denbrock is great, but Tony is among the best in the biz.

I still think this class would be none the worse for having Hooper in it!

I give the staff an A+ for sure, but you can't blame someone for wanting to stock up on the lines.

I'm giving Lou more than 50% of the credit here. Great that a kid actually helps pull in his potential stud replacement.

In Big Lou I trust.

Agree 100%. He could turn into a great one.

We are also going to have to make great hires for the new recruiting specific positions, guys in the Alford, Denbrock, Booker mold.

That, or go with what the SEC will surely do - 18-24 year old attractive women.

This cycle was the first one in a long time that felt more like "reloading" than "stocking." What a great feeling. I honestly expected a few defections today and not getting Eddie. Serve me up a bowl of crow, yum.....yum.....yum.......

There's not enough bandwidth for all the dumb things to be covered.

Kudos on the humble pie!

Weis was a perennial swinger for the 5S fences. Got a some but whiffed a lot with no plan B. This staff is bringing more prime talent in, losing less late, and prepared if they do.

ND up to #3 on Rivals Ranking actually #2 on Average Stars 3.92 trailing only the SC Dozen in that area. Come enrollement time, ND might well be the #1 Class.

Good Work by The Kelly Team!

Great thread.

I said earlier that I didn't think that our staff should be wasting their time chasing Eddie.

Stupid.

Lax,
not enough room or time to list times i've been wrong on this board.
ps if i'm ever in trouble up here-you know I'm PMing you for your number.

you and so many here really do an EXCELLENT job to make this site what it is.

all you guys (so many charactoers with unique online personas) here provide valuable insight, are often times flat out hilarious with comments, gifs, etc.

oftentimes when logging on i feel like RP McMurphy from Cuckoos Nest, returning once again to the circle in the ward "get a load of you maniacs! Chezaroo! Martini! whose got the cards?"

unique place this IE
