So I have been wondering, are we going to see commitment contracts to accepting bowl game invitations. Putting teams on the hook financially for some of the costs of game set up if cancelling after x date etc.

Wouldn't be surprised. We're into year two of this COVID deal and it doesn't look like it's going away any time soon.

Don't know if it's still in play, but years ago, a school had to guarantee a certain amount of tickets would be sold. If they didn't sell them, they were on the hook to buy them.

Oklahoma and Oregon playing right now, Stoops on the sideline. Dye for Oregon is fun to watch, he's super quick up the middle, just crazy fast once he gets the handoff.

Is Bob Stoops calling red zone plays Drake Stoops nepotism? I say yes.

Utah already put it on display twice, but Oregon sucks. Brown is terrible and as a team they are incredibly soft.

Apparently Oregon was playing with more backups on Defense than the Saints were on Offense on Monday Night. It's amazing they cut the final score within 15 tbh. Looked like Oklahoma was going to beat 'em by 50 for a bit there.

Tomorrow is the Mayo Bowl, right? Ol' butter teeth Mack Brown is probably going to get the Mayo bath after the game. I'm not sure it's going to be a good look, but maybe it'll be a new bowl tradition?

Sooners were minus quite a few starters on D as well.

You’re assuming a UNC win. Has Howell opted out? If so, there goes their offense. He carried that team on his shoulders all year. That defense hasn’t gotten any better so USCe should light them up. I’m all in on another SEC loss, but any bowl matchup for UNC w/o Howell will be tough. Hopefully he didn’t opt out.

Correct, CMU stepped in to play WSU

Okay is that what was being referred to?? I was like, "I basically work in the Sun Bowl... me being the last to know it's canceled would be a terrible look."

I’m guessing he thought it was nixed because Miami bailed, and didnt realize they got a replacement.

Howell is playing, which is very surprising, but as a college football fan I like to see.

UNC has some talent and a nice recruiting class coming in, but Mack Brown just isn’t a very good college coach anymore.

I see North Carolina's defense is still terrible. And yes, Mack Brown is their coach. He can still recruit, but to lose 6-7 games with this talent is inexcusable.

I'm really interested to see what Beamer is gonna do with USC. The team seemsreally invested in him as a coach.

Me too. They alluded to the fact that this may be his last game in an UNC uniform. Wonder what the odds of him are returning for a fifth year? Or as a grad transfer to a team w/ a better OL?

He started as a true freshman but he should have another year of eligibility from COVID.

Lastly, UNCs defense actually looks worse.

Great recruiter. Players coach. Lots of youth returning next season along w/ a former #1 QB in the land transferring into Columbia. Should be fun to watch.

Mayo bath was amusing but a little bit of a disappointment. I would have liked to see minimally hat off and then maybe some short sleeves. Its pretty gross, but would have been funny to see him really embrace it and play it up a little more.

Unless that's the majestic plural, "they" is an odd way to refer to Nick Saban.

If Georgia wins, it would be the 6th different sec team to win it since 1998 I believe. Nobody else is on the same planet

Of the 6 "SEC" titles in the last decade, 5 belong to Saban. If you took him out of the mix, you'd see more Big-10 and Big-12 champs, and almost assuredly one more title for Clemson. Suddenly the SEC doesn't look so dominant anymore.

How are Tennessee, Florida and Auburn looking these days?

You know, nothing's stopping you from being an SEC fan.

If Georgia wins, it'll be only their second championship since the start of the AP era. They're fighting for the rarified air currently occupied by Army and Pitt. They're a decent team this year and if you give the SEC enough bites at the apple (ESPN makes sure their investment is always protected---the SEC gets more mulligans than anybody), of course the conference is going to win more than others. In 2006, we couldn't possibly have had a rematch between the best teams in the B1G, but in 2011, we had a rematch of the best teams in the SEC. It's all very tautological.
