Bowl Predictions 2019

We are probably about Auburn's quality this year. The game was played at Auburn in front of a crazy home crowd, required 2 pick 6s off an inexperienced back up QB, and still came down to the final seconds. Give Saban a month to prepare his back up QB and gameplan, play it on a neutral site, and with our history in big bowl games....pass on that. Camping World Bowl against Okie St sounding better by the minute.

Or we could Oklahoma them. Alabama is going to be let down only playing in the Orange bowl, we'll be hungry.

ND cannot go to the Orange Bowl. Those reddit comments were based on an article that Prister put out, but he admitted this morning that was incorrect.

They *can* get to the Citrus Bowl, but need highly improbable help. They will almost definitely be in the Camping World Bowl.

I don't know all the scenarios but I have a hard time imagining we do not have a top 10 opponent in a bowl game We always trade up to a higher spot than we should.

I don't know all the scenarios but I have a hard time imagining we do not have a top 10 opponent in a bowl game We always trade up to a higher spot than we should.

I don't think we should be ranked ahead oh Bama, but I do think one can reasonably believe that AND not want to play then. Ranking aren't just based on roster. They're very much based on resumé. We can have a better resumé than Bama but still get throttled because we don't matchup well.

Per Sagarin's rankings, Bama had the 53rd toughest schedule. Actually pretty typical for them for the regular season. Their SOS always gets a big boost from the SEC CG and playoffs. They are experts at "managing" their schedule for optimal results.

They are smart. Seems to pay off.

Important lesson BK should learn is do not get blown out on national tv. But he won't learn that lesson because it is who he is. Big games equal abject failure for BK..

Agreed. Apparently, some deem playing in a conference makes one's schedule tougher than playing teams such as USC, Michigan, Mich St. and SEC teams (on 4 year occasions) not to mention teams like OK and VaTech an easy schedule. They take the fact of where they are ranked at the end of the year instead of where they were ranked when played. VaTech was what, 4/5/6 when the Irish took them down? You take the 'air out of the ball' and then all hope is lost so VaTech loses 3 more games and finishes 19/20th and, 'Oh, VaTech was over-ranked/over-rated.

This is coming sooner than some expect IMO. I think by 2025 there will be at least 6 teams in the playoffs. If there is going to be the expectation of a 'Power 5' conference discussion - there needs to be minimum 5 'Power' teams in a playoff system which will need a 6th position... and many will believe the Irish will need to be in a conference to be considered.

It is. When I see teams who are a step below us get better games it shows the power of the conferences. Plus we are tied to the weakest P-5 conference.

How long are we contractually attached to the ACC? We should have a thread debating its merits, because it’s kind of trash.... but then again, these are “down” years for teams that were expected to be better, right?
