I am not a fan of some of the language that is used on IE.

The one thing I would suggest to others that have a problem with the language is that as Christians we are to hold each other accountable for how we act but, we are not to hold those that are not Christians to the same standards that we hold believers.

I have posted before that I personally do not care for the phrase. With that, I won't negative rep someone who does. Christian values are set on being an example and not being divisive. This thread has become divisive if nothing else.

Maybe negative repping someone for using it sends the signal that one is judging the person. While that is probably not true, and instead of allowing that to be assumed, maybe a PM explaining why the phrase offends you would be more appropriate. I would think most posters out here would respect that - like Wild Bill just posted - and apologize and attempt, with good intentions, to try and refrain from using the phrase in the future. If not, then one has done the "Christian" thing and should thank them for their time and move on. Just my opinion... and probably my last one in this thread.

Good post my friend and I agree. At one moment in my IE life I was thrown to the dogs with neg rep's and the downward trajectory was evident. I took some time away to reevaluate my way of relating my opinion. I now haven't a care in the world about a good or bad response or rep. It really Is what It is, and keyboards aren't even close to the real thing.

Cool. Do your thing. The only thing posters have asked is that you explain why you are neg repping. The site mandates that you type something in order to leave a neg rep. You consistently type a '.' (haha that looks like a face). Just explain that you find the post offensive for whatever the reason may be. Had you been doing this the discussion never would have started. It's the fact that people don't know why there being negged that has them salty. I'm speaking from experience.

Yet you go out of your way to make sure people know you are displeased by neg repping yet do not provide any response. Surely you realize this is at a minimum aggravating to some posters? Then you get upset when people call you out on it.

And I don't see the similarity to liking something on facebook. You can't dislike something on facebook without posting to that page and typing in a negative response. The common theme with you is that you typically neg rep without providing any response.

Does it make you feel better to do this? What do you personally get out of neg repping posters constantly?

First I've never neg rep'd or put anyone on ignore in the five years I've been on this board. If someone posts something I don't like, agree with or find offensive, I just ignore the comment and move along.

More direct to your response, I don't think a slap in the face is messed up, but don't parse it out to make it convenient for you to reply. Why not address both of my analogies? What is a positive rep if not an electronic pat on the back or hand shake approving something?

But let's address this on another level. What is the purpose of the rep system? Why even have it (other than to create a retirement fund for Cali)? Why not get rid of the rep system all together? Then if someone likes or dislikes a post they can simply reply. If they would rather not do that, they can send a PM.
