is that an earthquake joke...or something deeper?
Yeah... but I need to work on the delivery. I do hate hippies though. So there might be something deeper. Maybe I should retake the Myers Briggs...

Yea nobody knows anything. One thing to have an opinion...but I never like the belittlement that goes on for a perfectly valid, and seemingly possible outcome. My belief is its a play...and Kelly will be at ND more enriched...
but in all plays, theres the counter...there are three scenarios here...not two. Kelly gets his Pay day from ND. Kelly get his pay day from Phily. Kelly gets his walking papers, and gets No payday from Phily or ND.
Ask the Boston College guy if its possible...
If some of you were playing Poker, BK would have you bluffed out of your chips and shirt. Me, I'm waiting for him to show his hand.
Positive Vibes?????? What is that?????

...Thats funny!
Strong 13th post.
The point is that if Kelly just wanted a raise from Notre Dame he would have just went to Swarbrick. This is ND....I truly think the man would have gotten paid if he just approached the situation in a more reasonable way.
Because he didn't do that and instead interviewed with the Eagles, IMO he really wants the NFL and is checking to see if the Eagles are the right fit for him. And this is going to happen again next year and the year after that
P.S. change your avatar???
UPDATE: Some have suggested that Kelly's interview with the Eagles is only a leverage ploy to get a raise from Notre Dame. During an appearance on ESPN's "NFL Live" on Thursday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter refuted that speculation:
"I know there are people who believe ... that this is nothing more than a leverage play. But the fact of the matter is he has a 12-1 record. He got Notre Dame back to where it wanted to go. And the people who are familiar with that situation believe he has all the leverage he needs anyway, with or without the Eagles. He's interested. He's gonna continue to talk to the Eagles ... and then he'll have to make a decision about whether or not he's ready to jump to the NFL."

I still believe he stays regardless of his interest level and gets a new contract but if he leaves, I don't think I'll be shocked. Speaking matter of factly, I don't think I care anymore; just want a resolution.
Bob Stoops would be my first call FWIW.

If BK leaves, then so be it. He will be missing out on an opportunity greater than any money the Eagles can offer. And of course, I say this as a loyalist and longtime fan of Notre Dame. However, if Kelly does leave, it will be his assistant coaches that I will miss the most. And I honestly say this without any hostility towards Kelly, I just really love the staff that we have right now. Unless they promote up from within, it's difficult to assume that it will stay in tact. And that would be the biggest loss, because recruits ARE drawn to coaches and for the most part the assistant coaches are the ones making the long term moves behind the scenes to bring them into the fold.
Let's hope this gets settled today.
If Kelly leaves, I feel like this staff should stay. Is is crazy to think about Diaco/Martin/Alford co-existing without Kelly? Who w/b head coach? Again, thoroughly confused and scared and cold, HOLD ME.

I wonder if they would? I would think at least one, or some, will want a piece of the NFL pie also.
That's where this could get bad. If Kelly were to leave and some of the staff goes with him, now ND is in the position of having to hire a HC and the HC has to get his staff in place. All of that during the critical and most important month of the recruiting period. There's no way to spin that as a good situation.
At some point Swarbrick has to has to protect the future of the program. If this isn't settled in the next 2-3 days, this will get interesting. The "quiet period" ends Saturday night then it's all hands on deck. 12:01 am the calls will start.
I guess as long as he keeps that red-headed stepchild brother of his in Norman. We saw what kind of defense he fields. Also, Kelly at least recruited high character, high quality kids and i'm worried about the type of kid Little Game Bob would attempt to bring in here. I know Sherm, he has taken teams to a ton of BCS games, but it's about culture for me. I love the culture in this program right now.
If leverage was the ploy all that was necessary was for Kelly to mention to Swarbrick or Jenkins that XYZ has approached him about an interview. Or his agent could have done instead. Neither Swarbrick nor Jenkins are obtuse. I would expect both of them to be anticipating "feelers".
Rockne flirted with annual offers and used the leverage adroitly. I recall Weis getting a big contract adjustment after a big season (which used to be an average season) but I don't recall him getting on a plane to make it happen.
There have been several changes at ND in the past few years which have benefited football AND other sports, such as EEs, Training Table, HC and assistant's salaries, etc. Since Monk has left office several draconian policies have eased for the entire student body including athletes. ND as an administration is much more "coach friendly then they were during the Holtz years and so far ND's graduation hasn't suffered.
Sorry but I don't understand Kelly interviewing a few days after the climb to the mountain top. You savor the moments and readjust your battle plan for the next assault.
People are still whining about a missed calls in the NCG causing a "loss of momentum". What the hell is an interview for a new job, 3 weeks from NSD?
People are chiding Anzalone for "taking a new job" in essence. They're incensed that he would say that ND is his dream school, that he was happy here, and then "poof" be gone. Sounds familiar to me expect one is 18 years old and one should know better how to handle things appropriately at his level.

Every year when we're done we talk about whatever the program needs to position itself,” AD Jack Swarbrick said this week. “It's been reflected in staff hires and equipment and all kinds of things. We go through a laundry list.”
So don't interpret Kelly's interview with Philadelphia as a “money grab.” At all. He is/was going to get paid.
.This is why a national coach of the year struck quickly: The bar has been set for him and his program. There is no going back. Win 12, at least, each season. Ten wins won't be acceptable, probably not after this season. Not for Kelly, not for long.
...
And at the moment, there is more certainty that Kelly can get himself to the next level (NFL) than he can keep Notre Dame at its current level. Is this past season a spike on a flat line or the beginning of another glorious ND run?
By interviewing with the Eagles, Kelly already has answered that question
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Kelly_(coach) 3 year runs at his past 2 jobs. kinda in his blood to move on. Next man in?
