Why not? Urban Meyer is obviously a better coach, has coached at ND and loves the school. I know the problem lies with his lack of integrity, but it's not like Kelly is trustworthy either...If Kelly interviewed right after the championship game, it's likely that it was scheduled beforehand...disappointing that he wasn't 100% focused on the game.
Phork already touched on this, but this is 2012. Urban may be a better coach, but Ohio State is a more attractive program from a football success point of view. Slightly easier schedule, at least while the Big 10 is down. Less recruiting restrictions. Theres still a lot of expectations, but probably less than the unrealistic Notre Dame fan base. If Urban was going to come to ND, it would have been several years ago. That door is firmly closed, you'll never see him here, you can bank on it. I seriously doubt you would ever see Bob Stoops here either, and I'm not sure I would want him here.
As far as Kelly going, it isn't happening though. I'd be willing to be on that too. He has the program in a pretty good position right now and good things are looming on the horizon. I'm not sure if we can ever compete with an Alabama team like the one Monday night, but Kelly can still have a lot of success. It's a money move, people need to relax. Regardless, this was horrible timing with the recruiting, and he probably didn't need anymore leverage.
Lastly, awesome to see about Jaylon, he's already a true Notre Dame man. Can't wait to see him in gold and blue.
