The sack celebrations on Sorsby could be epic.
Would love to see it. Completely leaving them off of the top 25 would be great TV. It would also dig at the scab of Michigan being allowed to play and I am here for that argument.CFP committee should leave them out even when they are 12-0. Their OOC schedule is Abilene Christian, Oregon State and Samer Houston State. Indiana even thinks that's a weak out of conference schedule.
He's NOT A VEGAN!Talarico might be a vegan and that's definitely going to turn some Texans off,
He's NOT A VEGAN!It's crazy how these politicians just say anything and the next thing you know, its "true". Paxton is straight up evil.
I’m not watching a second of this but absolutely insane by them and their PR people to think that putting out a 20 minute video explaining yourselves is the solution here
If you think the Big12 could exist without the Big12 schools. What's doubly crazy is that the Big 12 could just move their HQ out of the conference with a 75% vote. They can do anything with a 75% vote. They could even disband the whole thing with a 75% vote. It's a voluntary association of schools. And there is precedent for kicking someone out of a conference, it happened with Temple in the early 00s because the Big East thought they were hurting the competitiveness of the conference on the field and saw the writing on the wall of what could (and eventually did) happen to the conference.
But move the HQ to Kansas City + change the venue for cases from Dallas to literally anywhere not in Texas....... and there is nothing Ken Paxton or Cody Fuckface can do. Any suit would involve multiple states and get escalated to federal court. So the idea that TT has any leverage or that these threats are worth anything is ludicrous.
Their defense of Sorsby and compromising the integrity of the game is disgusting. The president clearly had uncomfortable body language at the beginning of the video. Utterly incredulous on how they are not considering the optics on this and the potential short and long term effects. Politics has entered college football pervasively here in this program.
The league’s athletic directors met at a national conference Tuesday, which one participant described as “intense but professional.” The league’s executive board, comprising the presidents of Kansas, Kansas State and BYU, is scheduled to have what could be a momentous call with commissioner Brett Yormark this week. A full board meeting could come next week.
This is the weirdest part of the whole thing to me. All of them saying that "We (greater CFP world) are scared and don't want TT to have a seat at the table."Im seeing Texas Tech fans entering a new phase of grieving on social media. Lamenting that John Mateer bet on games and was allowed to play, therefore Sorsby should too. And any pushback on this means you are just mad TT has money now and is trying to crash the party.
I have zero doubt plenty of kids are placing bets. I have no idea what John Mateer did or did not do. But this doesnt advance their argument anyway. Sorsby got caught. Thousands of bets. Including on his own team.
If you ask a Texas Tech fan or administrator what the punishment is for that, they suddenly turn into some oriental philosopher in a mountain temple. If I ever get this desperate, someone please just put me down. What a sad way to live one's life.
The whole thing is just disgusting... The temporary injunction that is now in place would last through the 2026 football season, but the NCAA is seeking an expedited appeal that would end the injunction sooner. Can't believe I'm actually rooting for the NCAA in anything.Anyone outside of TTU (fans & judiciary) sees what this means to the integrity of the sport and sports in general. I can't imagine the injunction not getting overturned.
Has it been mentioned where he got the money to place all those bets?
Well if you spent anytime in the Irish Envy Degenerates Gambling Thread sponsored by Sorsby you’d know on DK you bet $5 and get bonus $ when WC goals are scored. Duh.Anyone outside of TTU (fans & judiciary) sees what this means to the integrity of the sport and sports in general. I can't imagine the injunction not getting overturned.

I posted about this awhile back (in this same thread I think). Since then, I've thought about it some more. Diversity jurisdiction that allows a defendant to remove a case to federal court requires an amount in controversy of over $75k. Sorsby's lawsuit sought injunctive relief only, so I'm not sure how the NCAA could certify that the amount in controversy exceeded $75k.Smart move by the B12.
Does anyone know/has anyone read why the NCAA didn't remove the Sorsby lawsuit to federal court? They're an organization based in Indy, and IIRC the only named Defendant. Am I missing something?

EDIT: I just read that the NCAA is an unincorporated association, so it is considered a "citizen" of every state where its members are located. Because the NCAA has member schools in TX, there is no diversity jurisdiction and the case can't be removed to federal court.
It was not a case seeking damages, so how much Sorsby was set to lose is probably irrelevant. In any event, that's probably not the reason it wasn't removed to federal court because that's just the second element of diversity jurisdiction. Before you even get there, you have to show that there's no in-state defendant (TX citizen in this case). According to what I've just read, the NCAA is not incorporated at all.NCAA is legally incorporated in Indiana.
If it was the 75K thing, that's a huge miss from the NCAA's attorneys. I have to imagine the Complaint (which I can't get a copy of) has multiple mentions of how much money Sorsby is set to lose if not allowed to play. I can't imagine that's the reason.
