I am surprised one of these Big 12 or SEC schools haven't done what these basketball programs are doing in signing guys that still have eligibility that have flaked out of the NFL or are in the UFL.

I hate this guy so much lol.

Campbell isn't trying to fix shit. He's just a weasel billionaire trying to vault an otherwise irrelevant program and school into the national spotlight by throwing as much money as he can at the situation. Another prick that is intent on ruining what's left of the sport for his own personal gain.

If this doesn't get reversed on appeal, what are we even doing here.

As far as Campbell goes, I can't really say anything bad about him without being a hypocrite. If I had basically unlimited money I'd be doing the same for ND, and likely much worse lmao

I'd be absolutely doing the same, but I wouldn't be doing it under the guise of trying to save college sports how he is.

Enough money and political pressure can get you out of basically anything... 'Murica!

If the NCAA appeals they have to go in front of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. All 4 judges are on the 7th Circuit are Texas Tech law school graduates.

I hope road fans drive Sorsby insane with the most creative, vitriolic chants possible at road games and every opposing coach refuses to shake Joey McGuire hand before and after games for playing him this season. The Playoff Committee should also leave them out of the playoff if they so much as slip up and lose 1 game this season. Punish the entire program should Texas Tech play him a down.
Where do you see this?

It likely won't be heard until after the '26 season is over.

Then it will be dismissed.

The damage is done.

Saw it posted on multiple boards / media outlets. If it's incorrect I'll be happy to stand corrected. A lot of wrong shit ends up on the internet and I'm not trying to parrot it in an attempt to spread misinformation.
I was looking at the Federal 7th (I saw 11 judges with mostly degrees from Midwest universities which probably should registered sooner lol). I wasn’t trying to call you out, but trying to get a better understanding because that appeal might not be as friendly as 4 TTU judges. Sheesh.

What little fiber of integrity in college sports just got thrown out the window. These asshats are ruining it. If we thought NIL and the portal were the biggest issues to navigate, today’s ruling makes those issues look like child’s play.

The minute an appeal was announced you knew this was going to happen and I'm pretty sure Huntr is right. Unlike the speed of his appeal, this won't get scheduled until the season is over.

Like Cody Campbell, the NCAA should use it's weight and influence to get an appeal on their behalf scheduled asap.

So… can we somehow reinstate the ND men’s swimming team from a couple of years ago that lost their season and give all of those swimmers a year of eligibility back?

How about the Iowa State fb players? They were mega screwed, based on this ruling.

This is so fucked up - it’s not like the Terrence Shannon situation at Illinois where he hadn’t admitted to/been convicted of a crime - Sorsby literally “went to rehab” for it. What relevance does any legal proceeding have? We know he placed bets while playing. I genuinely don’t understand.

Edit - ok so the injunction was related to his appealing the NCAA declaring him ineligible because he only gambled because of his mental health, addiction and anxiety. GOT IT. Absolute fucking clown show

More government is not the answer. They will mess it up worse... Each conference needs to become siloed and make their own rules and enfore them.. The NCCA is a joke. I do not want the government involved. Read the bill, it will turn the game into a complete mess.

You can bet (get it) on some other CFP level teams going to their AD right now wanting to break some rules. Someone will try to portal a kid or sign a UFL player.

Does this mean Notre Dame can get the wins back from the 2012 and 2013 seasons? Clearly those kids cheated because of the anxiety and stress of having to go to class at the University of Notre Dame?
Absolutely we need to just start claiming them because the NCAA is a feckless organization

College football might need a few Sean Payton type coaches who will take matters into their own hands since everyone seems ok with immoral, unethical, cheating.

Never gonna happen but I would do nasty things to have the CFP Committee come out with a statement warning Texas Tech about their eligibility for the CFP.

It is an invitational after all.
Also not like Tech is a cash cow of a program. They were never gonna do that to Michigan like folks wanted, but lil Texas Tech from the irrelevant Big 12? Fuck em

The NCAA is such a joke. Sorsby gambles on multiple games, including on his own team (Indiana at the time) and he is eligible. Miami (Darian Mensah), LSU (Demond Williams), and Ole Miss (Luke Ferrelli) tampered with players who were NOT in the portal and were under contract at other schools and they received no punishment.

Yeah i mean at this point the NCAA obviously has no teeth but the CFP taking a stand would actually work. Not entirely convinced that they are incentived to do so, but also taking a stand against TT is a whole lot different than say Michigan, as MPClinton pointed out.

Each conference needs to be siloed? Where does that leave us?
Silding down the slippery slope I think

Yes, it screws us unless the Big allows us to join as a partial. I just see no way forward and the government wants to take over everything. It is a mess.
