Hopefully he reconsiders and leaves OU for the money. We need to see that team take a nose dive.
Kyler to play for OU this season, but it will be his last.
Will report to A's next spring.
I'm sure Gundy can take a little criticism. He's a man, he's <S>40</S> 50!
In the recruiting classes of 2012 and 2013, Weis and his staff brought in a combined 27 junior college transfers. Only two were academic qualifiers coming out of high school. Fourteen did not graduate, and 10 — including touted signees Marquel Combs, Chris Martin and Kevin Short — never saw the field. And then, by the end of 2014, they were all gone. So was Weis. Going into 2015, only 12 of Weis’ first 56 signees were still on the roster
Boykin, 24, has resorted to selling jewelry after his football career came to a halt this spring. He was accused of domestic violence by a girlfriend, Shabrika Bailey, who alleged that Boykin broke her jaw during an argument.
Mansfield police arrested Boykin on suspicion of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury. Boykin denied the allegations and posted bond, but the Seahawks released him shortly after.
Boykin’s case is still pending, according to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s office.
The spring incident is far from the first time Boykin has been in the news for off-field trouble. At the end of his senior season, Boykin was arrested in San Antonio after he allegedly punched a police officer in a bar fight on Dec. 31, 2015, two days before TCU was to play in the 2016 Alamo Bowl. He pleaded no contest to a charge of resisting arrest in June 2016 and received one year of deferred adjudication probation.
Boykin was also arrested in March 2017 following an incident in which he was a passenger in a car that hit the Sidebar Bar in Dallas, also hitting seven people on a sidewalk. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and public intoxication, according to Dallas County Jail records.
Boykin ended his career at TCU as the holder of several Horned Frogs records: career passing yards (10,728), completions (830) and pass attempts (1,356), as well as the single-season record for passing yards (3,901).
When he walked toward the locker room following Kansas’ 29-24 loss to West Virginia, Kansas safety Mike Lee heard something he wasn’t expecting.
Though he didn’t look up, to his right he heard clapping ... then more, and even more.
“It caught me off guard,” Lee said, “because that had never happened before.”
KU receiver Andrew Parchment — in his first season with the Jayhawks — said the conversation about that moment continued a few minutes later. KU’s veteran players, accustomed in earlier years to sparse crowds and supporters leaving early, couldn’t help but take notice after receiving a standing ovation from those in the southwest stands as they exited Booth Memorial Stadium....
Back in December, Kansas was ranked #44 by 247 Sports and #32 by Rivals. Those rankings are now #56 (247Sports) and #46 (Rivals).
Let me repeat something I said last December:
... it’s clear that Les Miles has had a tremendous impact on KU’s recruiting. You have to go back to the Mark Mangino era to find regular recruiting classes in the top-50. David Beaty’s average class was ranked #65, Gill/Weis averaged #58, while Mangino averaged #46. And remember, Weis and Beaty leaned on Juco recruits to bolster those class rankings as well.
