I had a sad, because I think the easy argument that could made is that he ran a relatively small town which has pretty basic infrastructure (I don't have an engineering background so I'm speaking straight from my backside). Pete is in no way qualified and was put there likely from a deal made by Clyburn to get him to drop out and secure Joe the nomination. Not likely, but almost certainly. The transportation system in South Bend isn't remarkable enough to justify elevating a mayor to the cabinet.

Buttigieg is a smart guy. No one will dispute that. He may even end up being good at the job. But his work experience, from looking at his Wikipedia page looks like intermittent consulting work after college, being a democratic footsoldier, and being a mayor of a dumpy town. It is what it is.

Nothing about his resume screams "cabinet member."

I absolutely agree with his lack of qualifications other than Mayor of South Bend but his time on the presidential trail people saw him as a great personal speaker and effective at laying out ideas and concepts. Would you say the Secretary position of any cabinet level office is primarily a administrative one?

I mean how much urban housing did Ben Carson know about. Was he smart sure? No one complained about putting a neurosurgeon in place of the Urban housing nor a house wife in charge of education. Wasn't Biden's goal to pick the most diverse administration ever? That doesn't mean binders full of white guys.
Generically, yes, people have been appointed to check boxes based on appearance. However, I have never implied nor stated anything about Pete's bedroom preferences. I even said why Pete was picked, which again, was not because he is gay.

I'm not dodging the question on Levine. Pennsylvania's handling of COVID under Levine's/Wolfs reign lands them around 40th in deaths/capita with a decision to shove covid positive seniors back in nursing homes where even Levine withdrew her mother. This was a pick for the T community.
