You don't think Oklahoma would struggle with Nebraska's running game? I think Oklahoma would win, but it might be a closer game than you give it credit for.
Again, I agree that Kansas St. is better than Ohio St. but by how much? You don't think Ohio St. would at least give them a heck of a game? I don't care what conference you're in, if you are undefeated this late in the season your team is at least pretty good if not really good.
The Big 12 might have the slight edge, but they aren't as vastly different as they've been made out to be.
Let me be clear, I think Nebraska sucks. I'm not even sure if they're really a top 25 caliber team. I'm pretty sure they'd be an underdog to almost every single team currently in the top 25 on a neutral field.
I also think Ohio State doesn't suck but they're like a poor man's Notre Dame... defense isn't nearly as good and they also have an inconsistent/turnover prone offense. Ohio State would likely get taken to the woodshed by either KSU or Oklahoma (and I say that thinking there is a good chance KSU might lose to Baylor this week... I have no high respect for them compared to their #1 ranking). Their defense is just too vulnerable to really expect them to hang with any team that plays both offense and defense.
Nebraska? They lost to UCLA before UCLA was any good... and then got MURDERED by Ohio State... there other wins are all largely squeakers against average Big Ten teams... 3 points over Wisconsin before Wisc hit their stride, 1 point over Northwestern, single digits over Penn State, 4 points over Michigan State... the only reason they beat Michigan is because Hoke had to go with
this guy against them. Michigan had 1st and goal early in the 2nd quarter when Denard got hurt... Bellomy comes in and rushes for 1 yard then throws 2 incompletions and they kick a field goal to make the score 7-6. After that? This loser goes
3 for 16 with 3 interceptions, finishes the game with 38 yards passing, and Nebraska wins 23-9... all off of field goals from great field position off Bellomy turnovers save one final TD in the 4th.
In summary, I'm not sure Nebraska is any better than Pittsburgh to choose another run-heavy team with questionable defense... and they sure as hell aren't on par with Stanford much less Oklahoma. Oklahoma would probably lite up their #50 defense 40+ and I doubt Nebraska would get anywhere north of 20. This is why I'd love to play them in the Rose Bowl if we get left out of the BCS title game.
