Michigan football has lost 5+ games 5 times since 2008.

Ohio State football has lost 5+ games 4 times since 1967.

That's fucking crazy if true.

Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota all lose. The 2014 Big Ten is 0-3 so far.

2014 B1G now 0-4 after Michigan's loss Saturday night.
B1G teams still left to play:
Nebraska vs. Georgia
Wisconsin vs. South Carolina
Iowa vs. LSU
Stanford vs. Michigan State
Clemson vs. Ohio State

Ohio State should take Clemson, Stanford/MSU could be anyone's guess. I'm thinking Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Iowa all lose though.

Statement from The Ohio State University Dept. of Athletics:

It has been determined that Ohio State University sophomore Noah Spence has violated a Big Ten Conference rule and he has been suspended for three games, starting with the Discover Orange Bowl this Friday.

Spence's parents, who did not agree with the rule violation nor the penalty imposed, were assisted by the Ohio State Department of Athletics in exhausting the appeals process that was available to them with the Big Ten.

Spence is an Academic All-Big Ten honoree and an OSU Scholar-Athlete. He will continue course work toward his sociology degree next semester and he will be able to practice with the team this spring, but he will not be eligible to play in a game until Ohio State’s third game of the 2014 season, Sept. 13 vs. Kent State.

The Department of Athletics will have no further comment on this issue.

From buck nuts

ESPN reporting an "eligibility issue"? How is he an Academic All Big 10 but have eligibility issues? Something not making sense. Could it be BEFORE the season started and now they are just finding out?

Take it FWIW, but "Men Of The Scarlet And Gray" is reporting Spence's violation might have been for over-the-counter PEDs:

Noah Spence suspended 3 games ***UPDATED***

My guess is he bought something from GNC. The B1G drug tested all or a select few of the players for the championship game or bowl game. When he tested positive and explained what it was, OSU had his back, but the B1G refused to allow it.

So the logical conclusion based on the recent performance of his conference and his headgear is that Delany is the kind of guy who yells "down in front" on 4-and-1 in the 4th quarter?

I bought it in Ireland in 1990.

Did we ever find out what Bullough actually did to be suspended? A couple MSU players had #40 written on their towels for him.

I thought MSU/Stanford was a toss up. Stanford could have and probably should have won that game. They played "Stanford ball" on the final couple possessions and it killed them. Once again they're trying to power up the middle on 3rd and 4th and short against a team that's built to stop just that...and they get shut down. Reminded me of the overtime game with them last year. Yeah, Stanford probably does that 100 times a season and picks up the 1st 70-80% of the time, but against the Spartans I think they really should have gone with the play action or a boot leg since they knew MSU would come hard to stuff it.

Nebraska was a bit surprising, they pulled the upset. That may quiet some of the people that were calling for Pelini's head, who knows though. Wisconsin did end up falling, as did Iowa which was no surprise.

Just goes to show you how important a great defense is to the success of your program. I was surprised that Wisconsin wasn't more competitive. I give kudos to Iowa. They should have been beat by 20+.

I guess this is a good place.

I talked with my second son about MSU-Stanford and here is what we came up with;

Tell me defense doesn't win championships!

Both defenses were coached better than ND in that their reads were almost always accurate and precise, and they were lightning fast. (Neither ND, UM or OSU were close this year.)

Both offenses had better game plans and stuck with them. MSU had incredible offensive player development during the course of the year. Everyone points to the quarterback, who really improved. But it was his wide receivers (first), running backs (second), and even his linemen (maybe) who improved more!

Brent Woody Musburger is the perfect example of what is wrong with the sport of football and ESPN today. If he had been in any, say, BW3 last night, making the same pronouncements about Stanford and "Pacwhatever" superiority, and the impotence of the big "whatever," he would have been hospitalized after a good old fashioned bar fight beat down, and curb stomping. He would have been warned an average of 26 times before violence would have occurred. And in each case, Herbie would not have backed him.

definite kudos to the MSU coaches, last year they had practically the same WR core and they couldnt catch a cold, last night they all looked like NFL starters out there, I was sighing with envy too seeing them complete slants and posts - something that dosen't seem to be in the BK playbook of late :(

Rumour is Spence from OSU and Bullough were tested after the BIG championship. Apparently a supplement they had acquired legally, but the BIG frowned upon it.

Wisconsin was very competitive in that game. They stood toe to toe with S. Carolina.

Just saw the first half of the USC-Wisconsin game and the Badgers were well in it, was surprized to see the final score tbh

I have to be honest and say I didn't see the entire game. Every time I checked in during the second half it seemed SoCaro was moving the ball without a lot of problems and when it came to crunch time Wisconsin faded.

Wisconsin's starting QB was hurt in the second half. Once he went out of the game, it was all USC except a kick-off returned for a TD for Wisc. I think the outcome may have been different if not for the QB getting hurt.

Pretty sure MSU graduated at least 2 of their starting/top WRs from last year and their pass catching TE Sims. So all, or 3 of 4, of their best catching options weren't back this year. Part of the issue for them was they expected DeAnthony Arnett who transfered up from Tenn the previous year to be a stud, and he's been invisible.

Haven't seen this posted elsewhere: Dantonio to stay at MSU.

Last year he received a contract extension through 2018. This year he is getting a raise from the $1.9 million that he is currently making to the $4 million range. His wife must be one hell of an agent!

With Dantonio doubling down on Sparty, it will be interesting to see if they can turn their current success into a sustainable, long-term challenge to Ann Arbor. I believe Hoke will get two more years minimum at the helm of the U.S.S. Wolverine. If next year turns out anything like this year, I think MSU begins making serious in-roads on once ironclad Michigan feeder schools.

Of course, the folks on the MSU 247 board are already prepared to raise Dantonio in effigy. Kind of amusing. You can tell which ones have only been paying attention to college hoops for the last few decades. ;)
