So I was watching some Pixar shorts with my kids on Saturday, and The Little Match Girl (NSFF*) came on:

My 6-year-old son started asking questions about why the little girl doesn't have a place to sleep, why she's wasting her matches if that's her only source of income, why her body is still slumped on the ground after her mother carries her away...

... and suddenly I'm crying like a great man-baby.

Damn, sure is dusty in here...

This is a story from long ago, but sadly there are still kids that freeze outside even today. It happened in Minnesota a few years ago, and a boy left his grandmother's apartment in Toronto and couldn't get back in last year I think. So sad. Obviously there was a bigger message here, a different message, but it reminded me of something.

For any first time parents out there, child proof locks on your doors is a must! We had them on our doors, but one of my son's who is Autistic managed to unlock and open our sliding glass door one day and get outside. Fortunately he was only out there for less than a minute and stayed close, but he easily could have wandered off or been hit by a car. We've got a bar on the door now to keep him in, this story just reminded me about all that.

Damnit this is almost as bad as Christmas Shoes.

I remember listening to Christmas Shoes for the first time in the car with my dad. I was like 13 or 14, still under the impression that I needed to be macho about everything.

My dad and I both wept like tiny girls during the song.

Small point, that's a Walt Disney Animation Studios short, not a Pixar short.

But yeah that "Disney and Pixar Shorts" on Netflix is no joke. There are a few in there that are rough to watch.

Not sure which is more annoying:

The little kids in the video, or the guy narrating the video.

Whiniest nerd voice ever; relies too much on the f-bomb.

Someone should make a critique video about the guy that made the critique video.
