I personally think that most of the previous Heisman winners will vote for Manti, but the media will vote heavily for Manziel. Regardless, it's a lot of to see our guys getting recognize like this. What a year.

I think Manziel will still get the Heisman.. I fear that some voters may have given Manti his due tonight because they are voting otherwise on Saturday. I'd be thrilled to be wrong.

I'm so glad Manti Te'o is getting his due. He is a special player and a special human being. I'm so glad the University is getting this exposure and we have such an excellent representative having the spotlight on him.

I agree and I accepted the fact a while ago. The man won 6 awards; can't really be angry after that.

One thing I'll never understand is how they have the Maxwell Player of the Year award and the Heisman...which I thought was the player of the year...but whatever I guess.

I somewhat agree. But yet Manti won 2 player of the year awards. Defensive Player of the Year and Player of the Year.

Because different people/organizations put together awards to honor players and I expect that none of them will be getting rid of their awards any time soon just to consolidate.

NOT SO FAST, MY FRIENDS. Cam Newton won both the maxwell and heisman in 2010. Tim Tebow won the maxwell and heisman in 2007. There is still a chance for Manti.

Hopefully, some of the old-school voters who still have the bias against freshmen will leave Manziel off their ballot completely. It's a crappy way to win, but it might be a way Te'o can get it.

I was not going to watch, but turned it on. My wife said, "Is this a Notre Dame Awards Show?" Yes. Yes, it is.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but by my count, Manti has won every award he has been up for nomination for (6).

- Butkis
- Nagurski
- Bednarik
- Lombardi
- Walter Camp (Most Outstanding Player)
- Maxwell (Most Outstanding Player)

Out of the 23 major awards given out so far this season, a Notre Dame player or coach has won 9 of them. That doesn't include the Lifetime Achievement Award for Contributions to College Football that Ara Parseghian was given during the awards show.

Only two more trophies left, Notre Dame could win both of them.
