The brat in me is pissed off this game is Sunday, not Saturday.

That first official Saturday is Christmas. This feels like Santa skipped our house.

It’s absolutely something the ACC and ND both want. Being the Monday night game is much worse since at least many people have Labor Day off. I’m guessing ND views it the same as how they openly hungered after the opening home playoff game last year. There’s absolutely zero competition and we want all the eyeballs on us.

The most interesting thing for this game might be Carson Beck’s bad moments IIRC were mainly reading zone coverages. Wish I could pull the stats. I think unless ND thinks they can just bully Miami’s WRs (possible - A&M, PSU) we might see a bit more zone Week 1 which was obviously not Golden’s fastball at ND. It is also a very good OL so you won’t just overwhelm them blitzing.
Sounds like it's going to be a mix. I would think Ash may provide some looks that are the opposite of what they using that particular play.

He’s the wildcard. I think he’ll be fully recovered from surgery so arm won’t be an issue. The question is, was he really that bad last year or was he pressing b/c he had a horrible receiving corps (led nation in drops) & OL couldn’t hold up vs better defenses? Remember going into 2024 he was hyped as the 1st QB on the draft list b/c he was coming off a good season the prior year.

On Pollack's pod, Fallica picked Miami to win. I'm shocked! That guy is a joke. He did say ND is a playoff team, though.

I'm going to Miami next week for a business trip (unfortunately on a Wednesday), so I'm going to talk shit to my colleagues the entire time. It should be fun!

Check this out:
"Leonard left ND in a better place. But placed CJ Carr in a position where he threw on a limited basis. During mop up duty mostly."

Carr threw zero passes last year

That article is literal dogshit, thankfully adblock will keep Yahoo from getting any money off of it

They keep talking about Morrison, who didn't play most of the season...Watts is the biggest loss in my opinion. But decent points altogether...
Yup. The biggest reason to be "bullish" on ND is that, relative to the team that went on the playoff run:
-The OL is better, especially if you consider what the group could look like long term with Jagusah back
-The RBs are better, you have all the same guys a year older with Love healthy
-The WRs are better, you have your two best players back + 2 portal guys
-The DL is better since Mills was already out and Cross was never fully healthy the whole year
-The CBs are better because it's the same dudes + Devonta Smith

So you only have question marks at QB (big one) and the DC spot spot. Safety, LB, and TE all lose impact players but have guys that can step up. All the other personnel losses were already baked in.

Agreed and trying not to chug the koolaid but...

LBs could absolutely be better but it requires them to be very assignment sound. Jack was excellent for us. It's very easy to believe that Bowen will be better with a year of experience, KVA will be better headed into his 2nd year in the program, Sneed will be better given everything we've heard. Ausberry might be better but we've heard his name far less than I would've anticipated.

You have to expect a better DL if we're blessed with health.

I feel for Ausberry, he might just get squeezed out of playing time.

Something to monitor, NOAA currently has a 60% chance of a cyclone forming in the next 7 days and it could be headed towards south Florida.

I live here in South Florida, almost all of the legitimate spaghetti models have it curving to the north and following Erin so I wouldn't get too nervous about it.
Thanks for this, I was checking NOAA for something else and am not as experienced reading the path of hurricanes that far out

I mean, that's not super surprising.

Miami's the home team, and has the experienced QB. I do think they're being overrated by a good amount. I'm not a believer in Beck, I think their OL isn't as elite as some make it out to be (they have some great tackles, but I don't think they're that good guard to guard), and I think there's way too many moving pieces on defense to expect them to be significantly better game 1.

The difference in the level of talent between ND and Miami will be noticeable on the 31st.

Carr better have his arm warmed up then, because we all know that a hurricane is passing weather.

Now that I know how to defeat swamp ass, I think we’re taking Miami to pound town. Faison with two td’s.
