Right. You have to be creative. SW almost always pulls it off, but sometimes they don't. Like the Asian puppets trade federation guys.

I thought Holdo and Snoke's costumes were fails. I got the gold robe idea, but it ended up looking kind of hokey to me.

I also thought Snoke was basically a tragic repeat of Darth Maul. Bring in a kick-ass villian. Show everyone how awesome he is. Kill him off.

Yeah, the Nemoidians were totally racist down to their broken english dialect. Not even sure how that flew. Watto was clearly a Jew slaver too. Racist AF

Exactly. While I don't think Lucas is racist (his wife is black), when I watch Watto, my suspension of disbelief snaps and I am not watching the story anymore, but thinking, "Wow, is this guy supposed to be a Jewish caricature?" IMO, its really lazy storytelling.

Lucas was in desperate need of a panel of semi-normal fans who could look him the eye and say, "That just doesn't work." Instead, he is surrounded by corporate lackeys who know to keep their mouths shut if they want to keep their jobs.

Is there a proper response in the canon for "May the Force be with you?"

If not, I'd suggest the following:

*extremely Novus Ordo voice* "And also with you."

I'm surprised no one in the movie answered back, "It's almost 2018 doofus, That shit doesn't work anymore,..."

The traditional response was, "And with your midichlorians" (et cum midicloriu tuum).

IKR...

I’m watching the fifth element (yes, my life sucks), and TLJ fits in well with this universe, much more than the GFFA.

WUT. YOU WILL NOT BESMIRCH THE FIFTH ELEMENT'S GOOD NAME WITH SUCH SLANDEROUS TRANSITIVE STATEMENTS.

Only in this universe's directly opposite counterpart does one's life suck for watching The Fifth Element.

That movie is fantastic.

Why is it racist for a fictional character to have an accent that sounds like one thing or another?

The difference is that The Phantom Menace was marketed heavily on Darth Maul. LucasFilm told us "this guy is important." Nobody ever told us that Snoke was important, we (the fans) did that on our own.

It's why Rey's parentage (if true) is my biggest gripe about TLJ. Unlike Snoke, which fans took and ran with, the mystery of Rey's origin was explicitly presented to us in TFA and then we were left out in the cold.

I made that joke on May 10, 2012. You're six years late.

Were we left out in the cold, though? We got the answer, and I think it works with where they seem to be going with Rey's character.

Even if Ben Solo was lying, though, that just means the issue will be addressed again in the next film.

So either way, I don't think it was a "blue balls" thing. I think people are just dissatisfied with the answer based on the buildup it got.

I thought it worked, because everyone was guessing whether she was related to Luke, Leia/Han/Ben, or someone else (Obi-Wan, Palpatine, etc.). It was a nice curveball, IMO, that the answer was "you're all wrong, she's just another person in the universe, and that's kind of the point."

Maz Kanata to Han Solo: "So... who's the girl?" Hard cut.

Rey's lightsaber vision:

Maz Kanata to Rey: "That lightsaber was Luke's. And his father's before him. And now, it calls to you."

5th Element deserves a sequel and would be potentially pretty badass. I am generally against sequels when the movie is a classic but I think it could really work here.

Updated tech/cgi/filming equipment would make that universe amazing.

Only if we get Bruce Willis and Chris Tucker back, though. Bonus points for President Deebo.

I agree. I could watch it anytime and enjoy it. Love Gary Oldman.
Would it be considered a cult classic?

I know a married couple that named their kids Kalya and Corbin supposedly after characters in The 5th Element... I have to take their words for it.
