To clarify, Dantonio is coming back in an advisory role for the program but it's their DBs coach who is acting interim HC.
MSU fans are hyped here, its pretty disgusting that none of them remember the rapey vibes off his program and how he took his bonus money then quit two weeks later. He's a scumbag.

I think it makes sense from an Athletic Department standpoint. You're not going to make a splashy hire during the season, he knows the program inside and out, and maybe they forgot how bad he was before he stepped back but it was a good way to calm the commotion and get fans excited I guess.

I agree with you, I don't get it, he absolutely burnt his own progress to the ground, and had some sketchy characters along the way (but what program hasn't). To each their own.

A big story in USA Today is what happened. That's all.

And so it doesn't *really* matter if it was consensual, does it? One could simply not engage in phone sex with someone who has the resources to make your life difficult if things go sideways. And given his position, maybe Tucker shouldn't have. But he did. And now his employer has egg on their face of the worst variety, and he hasn't lived up to his enormous contract. Game over.
My question was rhetorical in nature. I probably should have made that clear.

I think calling a woman at 12:49AM is never a good look if you are married. Otherwise its a bit of she said / he said - as usual. Just wondering if there are texts too. I gather he bought her a gift or two.

But in reading the USA Today story it didn't seem like she did a lot of play him on. He is gone.

Jimbo Fisher's Contract is way worse....he better see this as a wake up call to live the straight and narrow life. Knowing TAMU's Alumni they probably would send a Hottie after him to create a honey trap to bounce his ass out.

Big Ten is off to quite a start on the coaching carousel.

I still remember all those recruits MSU was getting a few years back that so many ND fans were cringing about "losing." Would love one of those "How it Started/How it's going" Tweets right about now in that regard.
Pretty sure all of those recruits were quickly out the program for being criminal sex offenders.

If his statement is remotely accurate then the whole thing is quite fishy, especially the timeline. Have to think that text messages will shed a lot of light here.

Second of all, don’t be a fucking creep having phone sex with people who aren’t your wife. Hard to have a lot of sympathy here.

Per statement he was separated from wife at the time.

That statement does raise some questions. If true, it sounds like he did something to piss her off and her revenge was to go to MSU with the story. We do know that Tucker lied about where he was when the call took place, so his credibility is a little questionable. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

Dantonio is a good man who did a wonderful job as a head coach. Family friends and he only going back to help stem the bleeding and is not coming out of retirement. He will most likely be apart of the hiring process and some sort of initiative to get the program in order. I’m curious though what direction they go in when it comes to their next coach. Do they go conservative or look at a Marcus Freeman type hire. As weird as it sounds a lot of people are interested in the possibility of looking at Sherrone Moore.

Well I certainly don't think its a racial thing...more like a guy possibly stepped on his dick thing.... but there is an article on Deadspin that goes into the lack of Black Head Coaches.... I don't like the tone of the article but facts and numbers are hard to refute:

"This season in college football, only 14 Black men will serve as head coaches out of the 133 programs on the Division I level. That number will be 13 after Tucker is officially fired. Only seven — soon to be six — of them fill that role in the Power Five, which includes 69 programs."

MSU will likely hire another Black Head Coach to neutralize the fall-out.

I know some Spartan fans are already throwing around Elko's name as a target.

I think it’s to be expected that some folks will point out race in Tucker’s situation……especially since this appears to be a she said/he said incident.

The headline in general,... my first thought is if I'm a person who is accused of something and I didn't actually do it I'm suing the shit out of them for that story. I'm not saying he did or didn't do anything, but man our culture is crazy with this rushing to judge and flame people stuff. How about we let this play out before stuff like that? Or just stick to reporting what is actually happening without the labels etc??

I don't want to derail this from Tucker, but a quick google search shows the black population is 12% of US citizens. "In 2021, 40.1 million people in the United States were non-Hispanic black alone, which represents 12.1 percent of the total population".

14 out of 133 is roughly 10%. 6 out of 69 is roughly 10%. I'm not saying there shouldn't be more, but if you want to use statistics, it seems the numbers appear to be on par.

The more relevant stat might be that something like 50-60 percent of FBS football players are Black.

But either way, no this doesn’t have anything to do with Tucker’s race. He fucked up no matter what he looks like. And now someone else will be the highest-paid Black coach.

FWIW on any recent year between 55 and 65% of the D1 FBS Football players are African American.
