Speaks volumes doesn't it.

It might speak to playing tough opponents with a lot of different styles from coast to coast. What is our record against them in that same time period?

Edit: looked it up they are 3-4 against us since Dantonio got there, and one of his wins gave him and a lot of Irish fans a heart attack (Little Giants).

So they're about even against us, while finishing 20 spots below us in recruiting. Like I said, better player development (doing more with less)

Please, look at the OOC schedule they play every year. They pretty much gift wrap themselves 3-4 wins a year to start. Also, since BK has been at ND Michigan State is 1-3 vs ND.

What about the postseason? They're on a 4 bowl game win streak including Georgia, Stanford and Baylor that were a combined 32-5.

It's not really deniable that they do more with less.

I'm not saying they don't, I just don't think comparing where they finished in the AP top 25 vs where we finished says that much. Could be and is a lot of factors other than player development. Their bowl record might be a more convincing statistic.

Fogot about that. Both was with amd without him.

With him, no doubt. Without him, most likely.

Dantonio is elite. Mike Tressel and Ron Burton are top shelf defensive assistants.

Also, Ken Mannie their S&C coach is arguably the best in the business.

What's really helped them has been the play at QB for Michigan state for the last ten years. Compare that to Notre Dames besides one year of
Clausen and then Brady Quinn

How can you have them over Ole Miss??? I'm sorry if I'm coming off harsh but that makes absolutely no sense (and I hate the SEC so it makes me sick that I'm defending them). They have wins over Alabama and Texas A&M. Michigan St LOST a game already and their best win is against.....Nebraska (and they almost blew that one). The rest of their schedule has been absolutely pathetic.

Sooooo...2 quality wins for Ole Miss and zero losses, vs. one decent win for Mich St and a loss.

Then you have FSU, with no losses, and 2 wins vs ranked opponents (one without their Heisman winner), and you have them behind a one-loss Mich St team?

I could go on, but I won't because it's obviously futile. Even my MSU friends don't have them anywhere near as high as you do. Having a hard time wrapping my head around your argument...

Just saw this again. It's kind of funny how things worked out during the season with MSU finishing at 5 in the final AP vs. 17 for Ole Miss. Nice class today for them.

Would love to see a WMU upset week 1.

id expect WMU to come out fighting but im not sure they have the depth to trouble MSU. Spartans always play like absolute dung when it comes to playing CMU, EMU or WMU so i'd not expecting a barnstormer. MSU will let them hang around and then put them away in the 2nd half

I don't think WMU can pull it off, but I'm hoping. I think they can keep it within 10. The MSU D is banged up and has lost some good talent the last few years. WMU can spread it out and move the ball. MSU starting a freshman RB. At WMU on a Friday night, fist game of the year, no lag from the week before. MSU always seems to overlook the smaller in state schools. I'm hoping I can get tickets, but I haven't seen any for less than $125.

Tyler O'Connor will start the opener.

no matter who is a QB this year for them, if we can stop the run, it shouldn't be hard to limit the pass...I think we have a good chance to grind out a low scoring win
