makes you wonder if this is why Les Miles didnt take a gig this year.
yeah I don't think that is it.
Miles probably just isn't that attractive of a candidate. He's a 64 year old coach that runs a stone-age offense.
Texas was only ever going after Tom Herman, and they should've. He's an awesome coach.
Oregon went after Fleck and Taggart, hired Taggart. Both guys in their early 40's that run multiple offenses. Miles at Oregon would be a disaster. Oregon needs innovation on offense to keep ahead of the pace- they don't get the athletes that LSU does on defense.
Purdue went and hired Jeff Brohm- who likes to throw the ball over the place. Last time Purdue had any measure of success it was with a similar type of offense and coach in Joe Tiller- who really pioneered the passing spread in the Big Ten. Purdue absolutely needs a schematic advantage like that to be competitive. Miles would be a disaster at a place like Purdue.
Houston decided to keep things in-tact and promote Applewhite from OC to head coach. Again, think they made the right choice there.
Miles just isn't that great a head coaching candidate. I think there's only a few jobs he could have any measure of real success at. LSU was one of those jobs.
