Maybe I watched another game. If it wasn't for some questionable play calling by Wittingham this game should have been a blow out. What I was watching is if the talent that rotted under Hoke would make any strides, and for now it hasn't . That is to say that by the end of the year it won't be better but its a toss up at this point.

My nephew bet me that UM would beat one of MSU or OSU. I took it and ran.

I loved the games and the hype around them. But I am enjoying UM's temporary demise and would rather not give them any added spotlights, media coverage, and recruiting fuel. Let the sleeping giant sleep. On the other hand, this would be good for CFB. But either way, Fuck Michigan

Meh, it's good if we're able to continue to knock them down in the winning percentage battle, but after last year and the fact scUM clearly cares about this game more than we do the last 10 years, I'd rather pass. It doesn't do much for us in recruiting, and lately if we have won our game it hasn't done much for our perception as a football program (Although losing the game is even worse, of course). 10 years ago I loved this rivalry, but now I'm kind of over it. I'd rather play a Texas, tOSU, Georgia, or other Power 5 team. Michigan decides to play hard against the Irish, tOSU, and maybe Michigan State, then takes the rest of the season off.

If we're going to commit to 4(+?) ACC teams, along with Navy, Stanford, and USC, I just don't see the need to play another big time program where we'll already recruit well. JMO.

You're right, we would have more to lose than to gain by playing Michigan. Especially in the upcoming few seasons as they rebuild. I am very excited about our "replacements" for this game and look forward to adding other big P5 schools like UCLA, Texas AM, Florida, Tennessee, PoSU, Oregon, etc..

That leaves 4 games free. 1 should always be against a Texas team since it's a recruiting hotbed. 1 for a southern school (outside of North Carolina/Virginia). 1 against a midwestern school (MSU/Purdue/Ball State/tOSU) and 1 against a northeastern school (Maryland/PSU/Temple/Rutgers/Army). Rotating 2 easier teams and 2 more difficult (as much as we can predict into the future). This plus our cali presence and acc schedule will give a nice rounded national coverage.

"I think it's trending up," It's something that we need to get in line to get that going," Kelly told Eisen.. "I think that's something that everybody wants to get going and get Michigan back on the schedule. (...) I think that sentiment is coming back to the forefront of where college football needs to be and some of those classic rivalries coming back together. I know we're going to be working hard to see if we can get that done.

Why? WHY? Why are we forever doomed to be paired with these assholes??? They give no recruiting advantage, play their best game against us annually, do nothing for SoS, refuse to schedule us on anything but their terms, whine like petulant children when we do anything the same ("copycats!") or differently ("breaking tradition!") than them.

We embarrassed them, we got the last laugh, and we robbed them of one of their three meaningful games. Just ignore them!

Living in Michigan a large percentage of the people that are on my social media feeds are Michigan fans. Rolling thru and there is an article about the BK comments today. I made the mistake of reading a few of the responses under the article. It was pathetic to say the least. Claims that we are wanting to 'jump on the Harbough train' and that 'they need us, we don't need them'.

This is absolutely the dumbest fucking thing I've heard come from ND in a long time. This is a terrible idea on every conceivable level.

Been reading some scUM sites and I see a lot of screw ND and how we handled the ending of the series and that we need them. They also seem to think that they will be beating EVERYONE by 2018

Teebus titty fucking rice....now I hope we just walk away from the table and be like "Nah, forget it."

"ND needs Michigan." lol. ND became a household name because Michigan was too much of a bitch to schedule the Irish to begin with. We didn't need them then, we sure as hell don't need them now. We're not the ones with a shitty schedule that need to beef it up.

I love that they always bring up the fact that we'll be playing Wake forest once every threeish years as as if to show how far our schedule has "sunk" while Utah on a Thursday on Fox Sports 1 was probably their third biggest game of the season. I hope they're enjoying their elite conference match ups with Rutgers and Maryland.

I've seen your opinion on our scheduling model before, and I understand why you feel this way. I think you're correct in a static environment, but college football is changing. Wheels are turning with the game's power-players (including media interests) to improve the quality of competition week-to-week. Power 5 teams are going to be scheduling Power 5 teams with much more regularity than they have in the past. Games like Alabama-USC, Oregon-Michigan State, Oklahoma-Tennessee, and Ohio State-Virginia Tech are going to become much more prevalent. Big programs don't like playing cupcake games, they only do it because "everyone else" is playing cupcake games and they don't want to risk any more losses than they need to. If those games are eliminated, the mutually assured destruction scenario is avoided and teams will be rushing to fill their schedules with competitive games. 10-2 will become a more realistic playoff target, so strength of schedule will be more important than going undefeated.

That may be true, but there are other teams to play besides Michigan. They need us; we don't need them.

Will the board NEVER get off this ridiculous vision of us playing a power team schedule every week?

Five ACC teams + Navy + USC + Stanford + Texas is PLENTY strong enough. Three more games NOT including OSU, MSU, UofM --- try 1 MAC, one team of an old coach {UMASS/ CT/ etc}, and someone "decent" but not a body-punch killer. Uhhhh ... guess what? THAT IS our schedule. Thank you God, Country, and Jack Swarbrick!!

Huh? So you wouldn't play ASU because they wouldn't let us out of a contract that we made with them. Why should they have let us out of the game? This makes no sense to me.

We'll never get into the playoff with that model, especially with other teams wising up and strengthening their OOC schedules. A conference champion has eight conference games, one conference championship, and one or two out of conference power five games. That means ten or eleven power five opponents and two or three non-power opponents. Since Notre Dame has one less game, that means we have room for one or two non-power opponents.
