I think Mattison is probably going to call it a career. He is 65 and he only left the Ravens and took the UM job because he wanted to be closer to his daughter and family. I don't see him moving away from Michigan now.

But if Narduzzi leaves for a head coaching job, well, might be a different story ... (kind of serious)

I think Narduzzi knows where his bread is buttered. I doubt he goes anywhere until Dantanio makes a change.

I agree. Narduzzi is smart enough to rake in the dough while knowing Dantonio runs that defense. I have been in meetings with both and there is no doubt who calls the defensive shots. That is flat out Dantonio's defense. Narduzzi would be dumb to leave.

So you are saying that Koon isn't getting the Michigan job then?

Not joking here....give Mattison what he wants and let him coach the DL.

What this article ignores is that outside of Hoke's first two years most of the "good" players he signed were actually guys that no other blue chip programs really wanted. This isn't entirely true on defense, where Mattison did a really solid job, but it is true on offense for sure. There is no talent.

Derrick Green fell in Hoke's lap because schools he begged to take him (like Ohio State) said no. Shane Morris sucked and everyone knew it. Almost all of the OL they signed in later classes save Mason Cole were not heavily recruited by other schools even if they had "offers." They recruited no WRs that are good, and they haven't signed a good TE since Butt.

So next year, the coach will rely on Shane Morris (lol) and a pretty bad OL, mediocre RBs, mediocre WRs, and a decent TE... with no impressive skill players currently in the hopper. Recruiting WAS a problem much like our issues recruiting LB/DL under Diaco... their fan base is just too stupid to realize that. With that being said, they still have enough talent to beat down a weak conference if they find a decent coach.

On mgoblog, they're convinced it's happening. I think it would make sense, since Harbaugh is almost on Saban's career trajectory at this point and I don't know if his personality could ever work long term in the NFL.

My hope is that he shoots them down, they hire Greg Schiano, and that entire board melts down. If we can't have a good team, schadenfreude is the next best thing.

So UM understands he's not coming, but that's not enough for MGo? Got it...

I can see why MGoBlog would still feel they had a chance. I don't think it's remotely likely, but Harbaugh just lost to the Raiders last night. I didn't think that was likely either. Between his massive ego and his recent inability to put a good offense on the field, it wouldn't surprise me to see less interest in Harbaugh by NFL teams.

You don't think that the Raiders, Jets, Titans, Redskins, Bears, Jaguars woudn't hire him?

Does anyone know who the top tier realistic candidates are for UM? It's been pretty quite.

Basically, they're hoping to get Harbaugh. After that, they will probably make a run at Miles.

If they miss on those two, then they will make a run at Schiano/Cryst/Addazio/etc.

Interesting.

I know someone who works in University of Michigan's legal department, and apparently they were not sad to see Hoke go in that office. They were furious with Hoke for the whole Shane Morris concussion-gate debacle.
