I hope for nothing more than Michigan winning out from here. They've lost poorly enough to see they are a garbage team, now we need HOke to pull off a miracle and win out, securing his job and the mediocrity of UM for years to come, Huzzah!

MSU could put 50 on them this week if they really want to. It could get messy especially if Gardner is carrying an injury

scUM has this coming Saturday off then they go to East Lansing to lose to MSU

MSU continues their tour of the state of Indiana with a game at Bloomington this Saturday (played at West Lafayette last Saturday), then Home to play the Walverines on 10/25

Here's a weird thing tho...Last year and this year, they are playing in East Lansing...how did MSU get to be home 2 yrs in a row? Not that it should matter as Sparty will probably thrash them even with their fourth quarter meltdowns looking like our first quarter ones

That's what happens when you're the in-state powerhouse facing a middling B1G team....fuck Michigan.

The big problem here is that Gardner is now hurt as well. High ankle sprain or something of the like. Michigan is about to face a colossal beat down of epic proportions.

It would be helpful if they won out just for ND's sake, as well as keeping MSU at bay so they do not sneak past ND...if we beat the Semiholes this weekend.

I'm not sure about that. It could certainly happen - MSU has the talent to do it. But this is a heated in-state rivalry where records go out the window. And lest any of you forget, Dantonio has a way of reminding people from time to time that his teams have a ceiling that typically keeps true success just out of reach. If they can win out this year and post back to back 1 loss seasons, maybe he'll start to shake that perception, but until then...

MSU has no qualms about kicking SCUM when they are down though. I wouldn't trust them to take on a decent opponent in a prime time game where they actually have to play on all 3 phases of the game..but when when presented with a wounded Wolverine they aren't gonna be hospitable at all.

I agree, and I hope that's the case when they play. I'm only pointing out that MSU has perfected its role as a spoiler, but not so much as the team that is supposed to win.

Did you watch the game last year? UM isn't anywhere near MSU on the field.

I did. I live 60 miles from MSU's campus. If you don't get that MSU has made a habit out of losing games they should win, you haven't been watching them long. The success they've had the past few years is the exception, not the norm.

I would say that given the success the last three years it's not an exception anymore. Now if those seasons were spread out and not grouped together I would agree.

I would say that given the success the last three years it's not an exception anymore. Now if those seasons were spread out and not grouped together I would agree.

In a normal three-year stretch, I'd agree. In a three-year stretch in which UM devolves into a tire fire, Ohio State switches coaches and hires a heavily medicated Urban Meyer under a bowl ban, and the rest of the Big Ten struggles to beat MAC teams, the bar isn't very high for MSU. These few years have also been accompanied by a serious watering down of the MSU schedule. Case in point, they lost to the only non-conference opponent this year that wasn't a glorified scrimmage on their schedule.

Don't get me wrong...despite their spoiler tendencies against ND over the years, I've always had a soft spot for the Spartans. Sure, they can be annoying at times, just like any other fan base, but East Lansing is a great place to live and they're not all elitist dickwads like their big brother down the road (who, continuing that analogy, would seem to be content unemployed and living in their mother's basement while little brother makes something of himself). I would be thrilled to see the base of power shift from Ann Arbor to East Lansing for a generation or two.
