Question:

Would a 3 year postseason ban decimate the Michigan roster/recruiting or would Michigan be able to save the roster/recruiting by overpaying NIL amounts substantially?
It will probally decimate them why would you stick around knowing you can't be in the playoff, Allister could come here play day 1 and compete for the playoffs.

I'm expecting it to be barely anything at all.

NCAA is totally soft
I'm weary to get my hopes up as well but it would be really weird for the NCAA to hold a press conference to basically to nothing.

"we officially condone on-field cheating." would be a bizarre look. It would make more sense to hide behind closed doors.

I should think so; I can't imagine boosters backing up truckloads of cash for a program that has nothing to play for in the near term, and even teenagers wouldn't want to hitch their wagon to a program heading nowhere.

Yeah a news dump on a Friday announcing minimal penalties makes much more sense than a press conference.

Could be a press conference at 1 to defend the minimal penalties?
At that point qui gives a sh*t? People are looking back to see when the NCAA has actually bothered to have a press conference when dispensing punishment and it's not too common. As ab2 mentioned above, it might just have been Louisville and and Penn State.

I just realized, what if the NCAA called the press conference because Connor Stallions' manifesto is finally being released??

There is at least a rumor going on that the B1G and CFP may have press conferences this afternoon. All I'm seeing is whispers though

I don't even really give a shit about vacating wins because those games were played, people remembered them, they happened (much like Bush's Heisman). That being said, when you look at the punishment we got in 2012-13, it's just fucking comical to think that this would not result in vacating wins considering that they actually cheated to win those games

How does that fine impact their ability to participate in revenue sharing? Is that effectively a scholarship reduction in today's age, excluding NIL of course.

Definitely a nothingburger. NCAA holding a press conference to put egg on their own faces.

Weird to me that Stalions gets less than Harbaugh.
Maybe Stallions cooperated with the NCAA more than Harbaugh.

In a plot twist around the hearings, it appears the man at the center of the probe was himself in attendance, as Stalions was spotted heading into the meeting, as revealed by Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde.

Stalions’ presence at the hearing could suggest that he cooperated with the NCAA investigation more than was previously let on.

“It would be surprising for someone who stonewalled investigators to show up at the hearing,” Forde noted.

He added: “However, if Stalions wants to coach in college again, and defend Michigan, that could explain it.”

Whatever the reason for Stalions’ arrival at the hearing, we should see a resolution in the NCAA case involving Michigan in the very near future.

$20 million fine to a school paying a kid from down the street $10+ million just to go there is laughable.
