I think they only beat Sparty out of that line up. And I will be hoping I am wrong when the game comes.

As much as I hate to say it, I think that's pretty fair. I'd love for them to flirt with .500, but they don't really have a gauntlet this year.

They have 5 tough or toss-up matchups on the schedule: Washington, @Wisconsin, @Sparty, @PSU and OSU. You might be able to throw @Nebraska in there but that program is in such a bad spot right now.

I could see them losing 3-4 of these games.

IU isn't a gimme.

Honestly, being from the mitten state, I am such a huge bandwagon Sparty fan on that Saturday. The enemy of your enemy is your friend. Not to the point where I'll wear green and white, but I cheer vocally with my Spartan pals.

I didn't think Sparty would hang last year, but they got the job done. And they weren't even good. They should be a tad bit better in year two of Mel Tucker.

Rivalry games bring a different level of focus. I still remember 2015, walking in the Joyce lot and stopping at a tent to catch the score when scUM muffs that punt and Sparty runs it in. Then we kicked USC's butt. That was a great day.

I'm a low-key MSU fan every year (except when they're playing ND obviously). They are one of the few to generally get the GoodGuys* stamp from ND fans for playing us early and often. A good MSU means they are nipping at the heels of OSU and Michigan, which is always helpful. Plus I can't bring myself to fully dislike any team that hates Michigan that much.

Wait, so that means you don't dislike OSU?

"Fully dislike" I'm from the South, so I don't deal with their fans much. I root against them generally because they are a hurdle for ND to overcome, but I definitely look at them as the "lesser of two evils" compared to teams like Bama or OU. As with MSU, I respect the fact that they hate Michigan and love that they destroy them annually.

I was there too, man! What a great game. I missed the "trouble with the snap" live but it was a pretty surreal experience when the entire stadium got the same updates on their phone that scUM blew it at the last second.

Fast forward, USC marches down field to go up 7-0, only to have Fuller blow by Adoree Jackson on the first play, 75 yards. Place was electric that night!

This is well said; my second favorite college football team is literally whoever Michigan is playing. But I find myself pulling for Sparty most Saturday's. They had a really fun run with Dantonio, mucking up the B1G and competing toe to toe with OSU.

Wait, so that means you don't dislike OSU?

I loathe OSU, but I loathe Michigan way more. Unless ND benefits from a skunkbear win, I always pull for OSU.

I think Washington could beat them week 2. Harbaugh is 3-3 vs MSU, I think he could fall under .500 vs MSU.

They could have a record under .500 this year.

That was the best part about being in ND stadium that day when they announced it. We got beat by GT that day...

Ugh, thanks for the reminder. I was in the stadium that day with my newish girlfriend, her brother, and his wife. None of them particularly cared about ND so I was just sitting there trying not to embarrass myself while my blood pressure climbed higher and higher.

I witnessed a grown man cry in a Buffalo Wild Wings after they lost and his girlfriend called him a **ssy, and he stormed out. I will never forget this glorious upset.

One of the College Football Reddit pages on Twitter was commemorating the Appy State game and asked, "What was your favorite part of this game?"

Uhh...like all of it

Fuck Michigan
