Michigan lost 4* OL David Dawson today, apparently because of their moronic "visit other schools and we'll pull your scholarship offer" policy.

I could be way off but I've heard rumblings that he is going to UF for a long while.

Frankly, that's a huge loss... Cass Tech kids are typically stone cold locks for Michigan.

I'm happy that Michigan lost a recruit but I'm also a lliiiiilllll worried about it because Michigan plans to fill that spot and you never know they may come after some of NDs commits. McGovern had interest before he came to ND. Likely chances?......I say slim but this is recruiting.

You are very correct. There was this rumbling a month or two ago.

David Dawson (Detroit/Cass Tech), the No. 1 offensive guard prospect in the nation, is no longer committed to Michigan.

For quite some time Dawson had been flirting with the idea of entertaining other programs despite his commitment to the Wolverines. Brady Hoke and his staff have stood firm on their policy of no longer recruiting prospects who commit to them and then decided to take more visits.

"I wasn't 100 percent sure, and I didn't want to go any longer hurting myself or the University of Michigan," he said. "I talked to my mom and coaches and they gave me the OK to do what I felt was best. I thank Coach [Brady] Hoke for giving me the opportunity, but it was something I had to do."

Also correct. The only one that comes to mind off the top of my head is Dior Mathis to Oregon a few years ago. I'm sure there are some that go to MSU & EMU though, but not nearly the pipleline that UM has.

Dawson decommits from Michigan, will visit UF | Gator Prospectus Gator Prospectus - Gator Sports - Gainesville, FL - Archive

“It was nothing against them,” said Dawson, who is from Cass Tech in Detroit, Mich. “I just want to be in the SEC because I know I’ll be facing the best defensive linemen in the country every week, and that’s going to prepare me well for the NFL.”

Florida offensive center commit Cameron Dillard (Canton, Mich./Canton) has a close relationship with Dawson and will also be on his official visit this coming weekend.

Michigan is pursuing Na'Ty Rodgers, Dorian Johnson, and Brendan Mahon for replacing Dawson.

Good...stay away from our boys!

Man that would suck if they got Dorian Johnson... would absolutely have fallen in their lap.

Michigan just got their 2nd '14 commit, from IL OT Denzel Ward. Kid is listed at 6'9, 295 already. Big boy.

A 16-17 year old at 6'9"? I would be afraid of him growing too big. How many 7 footers do you see playing college football?

McGlinchey is 6'9, no?

As a senior. That being said, it still worries me with him as well. There is such a thing as being too tall.

Some time it works out though....

@BillBankGreene: Gareon Conley tells me he will visit Ohio State and Oregon.

That means another Michigan decommit.

My roommate follows UM recruiting about as closely as I follow ND's. I don't remember the name, but he said they're about to lose a CB. Guy's considering Oregon, can't remember who else.

There was also some kind of tweet between him and another Michigan decommit about not letting Hoke pressuring him into anything. LOL
