So this is "approved" by the committee, and will next week be voted on by Senate to make it official? And in the mean time they're hoping (mandating?) a FBI investigation take place?

Is this all accurate?

Then I'd ask, when has a FBI investigation lasted only a week?

When the incident happened over 30 years ago with no police reports or hospital visit, nobody who "attended" the party has any recollection of attending the party other than the accuser. I really am at a loss on how the FBI can even conduct an investigation.

The FBI has investigated him numerous times already for previous appointments... or at least I assume they would have. Anyway, this was the best moment of the entire circus to me, it's rewinding a while to before the fire really started burning but Sasse did himself well here imo:

Hypothetically, what would you do if the choice was Maxine Waters or Donald Trump. LOL

At that point I’m begging my wife to take a job in their Zurich office and going skiing for 4 years.

I didn't actually watch any of the hearings or follow many blow-by-blow news accounts, but this shit has turned into "must see TV," for lack of a better term.

It is the proverbial train wreck that we can't turn away from.

I can legitimately envision any and all of these things occurring before the confirmation vote:
- another woman comes forward claiming sexual assault
- a dude comes forward claiming sexual assault
- an animal comes forward claiming sexual assault
- some discrepancy will be conjured up to delay the vote
- Ford's GoFundMe will be over $2m
- no less than 2 hashtag movements will be created
- Russian collusion will be used to demonstrate a reason fbi isn't investigating Kavanaugh/why they found nothing against him
- we'll be told Ford is contemplating suicide
- fbi will be asked to investigate something else regarding Kavanaugh before a vote can take place
- a march will be organized
- a new allegation against trump will be thrust upon us
- lebron james will give us multiple comments about the hearing and vote

One question.....does anyone in America actually believe Blasey Ford?

Sure they may believe Both Kavanaugh and Trump are evil and are willing to put up with the bullshit to stop Kavanaugh from getting approved, but as for Blasey Ford.....

Does anyone at all believe her story?

I think everyone is just afraid to honestly answer this question.

Flake sucks though - 1) Dems sat on it instead of investigating off the bat. 2) WTF do they think they are going to find? More than enough info is out to tell us this never even should have been made public.

Just like the Russia investigation - can't let "nothing happened" be a possible answer.

Temper tantrum. Most of the Dems stayed in the room, it was only Booker, Harris, and Hirono who walked out.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/28/senate-gop-agrees-to-one-week-delay-on-kavanaugh-confirmation-to-allow-for-fbi-probe.html

Republicans in the Senate have agreed to delay a vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation for one week to allow for an FBI probe into allegations of sexual misconduct against the judge, according to a statement issued by the Senate Judiciary Committee Friday.

"The supplemental FBI background investigation would be limited to current credible allegations against the nominee and must be completed no later than one week from today."

The agreement reached Friday will hand over to the White House a final decision on whether the FBI conducts an investigation, though the president has signaled his willingness to go along with the GOP leadership.

OK, so if they do this FBI investigation and they come back with we found the same things everyone else did. Accuser gives no date, place, time and those said to have been there all say what they have already said no recollection of any type of party or get together like this or never met Kavanaugh, then how many Ds vote for him when it is placed on the floor of the Senate.

If it is just the same 2-3 red state Ds that people were guessing may ahve voted for him now, then what does that say about the rest of the Ds who will have gotten large chunks of what they asked for?

Also, when does DiFi submit herself and her staff and the lawyers she provided to Dr Ford to an investigation to leaking documents that Dr Ford requested to remain confidential?

I am sure it will remain just as confidential as all of that House testimony that leaked on Russiagate (practically in real time I might add)

This is why it’s dangerous to play ball with ideologues. Even when you give them what they want, you still lose. Flake is getting absolutely trashed right now from the Right and the Left, who you would think would have his back right now, is STILL shitting on him.

I would like to believe that moderate senators from both parties (Flake, Murkowski, Collins, Heitcamp, and Manchin) are responsible for suggesting the investigation into all of these allegations should be completed before voting on confirmation. I really would like to believe they were doing this for the right reasons. However, the cynic in me sees it as four senators concerned about their re-election and Jeff Flake, who always takes a conciliatory approach, but never votes against the party line.

"Back in 2018 Rebecca Harrison, known at the time to me as IrishSyria, sexually propositioned me via an internet message board. I still face the horror of that experience daily and my psychiatric bills presented as evidence, speak to that. I can no longer fly, which is troubling because driving from Connecticut to Orlando every three weeks really eats away a lot of quality Disney time from my family." -- Wizards in ten years during Senate confirmation hearings.

Almost like this was a calculated political hit.

All this proves (if true) is that the law firm handles sexual harassment cases and represented both of the women you've named. They obviously have a good record of representing the women in this type of case. Nothing there to indicate that the women's claims were false.

Incidentally, the majority of these cases end up being a "he said, she said" case. The perpetrator isn't going to commit the act in front of a bunch of witnesses. They take advantage of situations when no witnesses exist.

In this case, there may be a witness. However, he was likely too drunk to remember what happened or is concerned about putting himself in jeopardy since there is no statue of limitations in the State of Maryland for this type of crime. It will be interesting to see what he has to say if and when he is interviewed by the FBI.

I suspect there will be more partisanship next week after some superficial interviews by the FBI.
