Whew. A top 3 college DC leaving for your rival and then hiring one an objectively bad NFL coach to replace him is quite the drop off.

Patricia seems like such a bizarre choice for OSU and it doesn’t seem difficult to imagine that going poorly.

Patricia is a god awful higher dude hasn’t been in college in 22 years
plus the stick on him in the NFL was that he was an asshat to NFL players who are grown men. Zero idea how they think he will treat kids any better at the college level

In fairness, that was the exact criticism of Chip Kelly. I think, if anything, that sort of personality is better suited to college coaching than coaching in the NFL

If they also tried to hire DJ Durkin, Ohio State probably doesn't care much about coaches being assholes.

Big red flag would be not making Bill's staff at UNC. I get his son is the DC but they were just doing a podcast together...

Yeah. Bill thought so much of Patricia he made him the Patriots’ OFFENSIVE coordinator after the Lions flameout. But that ended poorly and no sign of him getting a job at UNC.

Bigger red flag is you don't trust the guy to be a sole DC and you don't want your "DC" to handle the defensive pass duties....

What is he really doing?

Damn Fuck Nuts! They are the ONE team who can do this, but how dare they shit on ND's Pot of Gold Day!
I just hope MMFF is "keeping receipts" for the next time OSU meets The Irish...

OSU was lucky to win the 2023 game. Then they get us in a NC game where we're missing nearly half our starters. Luck has to run out eventually, they're overdue for a beating.

Almost sounds to me like OSU was going to can Knowles if they hadn't won a NC. After they did, they were between a rock and a hard place and almost had to offer an extension.

I'd be happy if we never have to face a Jim Knowles defense again. 4 straight losses going back to the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma State. He's a pain in the ass to face...maybe we can have him after Penn State does nothing?

If only Mike Elston, who was calling the defense that day, could’ve stopped them in that second half of the OkSt Fiesta Bowl.

They put up 35 against Oklahoma State. Not exactly a vaunted defense.

You'd think so, but it was the tale of two halves. Almost all of it came in the 1st half while OSU was lights out 2nd half. Running game was stuffed pretty much all day, passing was excellent that 1st half because OSU's DBs played soft coverage. However, Knowles figured out Kevin Austin and Braden Lenzy couldn't beat tight coverage and so 2nd half the easy passes disappeared and so did our offense. Austin and Lenzy completely disappeared until the final drive. Only Mayer and a yet unbroken Lorenzo Styles were catching anything. Gave away a 2 TD lead and couldn't do a damn thing offensively that 2nd half till the final drive. We gave up 600 yards on defense too, it was a poor season transitioning from Lea at DC to Freeman.
