That wasn't scrappy. We had control of the game and with 4 mins to go decided to stand around, milk the clock and settle for bad shots.

I thought for sure they were going to rain a 3 to win.

Thats what i dont get, our offense doesnt work when we stand and burn clock. Why the hell were we standing around holding the ball, gotta keep running the offense or it turns into a free throw shooting contest like we had

This wasn't the usual ND playing like shit and none of their copious 3-pt attempts going in. This was ND playing as well as they should on offense against a scrub team, and then getting tossed around like a Bangkok whore on the boards and on defense.

I'm frustrated, but not too worried...they have been good at bouncing back, including after bad losses, ugly wins, etc. Move on and get ready for whoever is next.

That's precisely what worries me. If the shots aren't falling, it's a completely different matter, it happens to the best of teams; if you win, the law of averages wins out and you'll shoot better the next game. In this game, our offense looked good but the offensive gameplan deteriorated (or was just stupid) and our defense looked horrible. Those aren't things you can fix that quickly in a single-elimination tournament.

Agreed but we have shot great all year so to have a great shooting game and still win is good. We just didnt rebound good that was our down fall. We would have won by 15 if we could get defensive rebounds

I want to play texas only because they play more like individuals than a team.....ND tends to play well against those type of teams.

Hoping they now have the jitters out of their system and are ready to play.

Maybe he meant "crappy" win and typo'd an "s" in there.

Nice to see that the same brilliance and even keeled logic spills over from the football threads!

Butler doesn't beat themselves and forces you to play their game. Playing Texas would be more conducive to our style of play.

The comments show me that most of you didn't follow the team all year.

They get pounded on rebounds literally every game, that's their weakness. They just played flat today, they'll bounce back next round.

This actually gives me hope this team will make a run. This is the type of game ND loses 9/10 times, and today they found a way.

I read that Northeastern was ranked 307th in the country in offensive rebounding before this game. Nobody expects us to outrebound an actually good team regularly, but I don't think it's absurd to be disappointed in such rebounding futility against a bad team.

Not only this, but how many games in the opening round so far had a narrower margin of victory than the Irish's? Not even including the upsets.

I know nothing about basketball, so I will stand corrected if challenged; but, isn't basketball the kind of sport where stats go out the door on for a single elimination tournament? How many times has the overwhelming favorite gone down, violating every statistical tendency?

The great thing about watching college basketball in my opinion : for any given sixty minutes a new king can be crowned.

The worst thing about watching college basketball in my opinion : (On TV) commercials!

Do you think they've gone from One And Done to One For One?

Or can they raise the program to Won And Won?
