If this is going to come down to NIL and if ND wants Deuce can they match Auburn?

I have a feeling this Auburn class is like the buy-in A&M class and even though Alabama has a new coach/starting a new era, Auburn will always be 2nd best in the state.

I think auburn is seeing Bama and the rest if the SEC and saying time to spend.
A mid-level Auburn booster told me that PTB has been withholding $$ ever since the Harsin hire. They have just now agreed to start shopping again hence their recent success in recruiting. He also told me that they aren’t quite ready to pony up $1 mil for a QB- portal or otherwise. I don’t see them shelling out half that for Deuce. The booster didn’t tell me what they are offering him however.

This is the latest on Deuce in this video, most of which we already know. A decision is probably imminent, as Auburn wants to get a QB sooner than later, his parents were on the visit with him, which helped Auburn, Ole Miss is still involved but Auburn has the best chances of flipping him. It sounds like it's going to come down to Deuce's preferences, our poor WR recruiting may hurt us more than some want to admit, especially since Auburn got some really good WRs last cycle. I personally think it's going to come down to whether his relationship with Gino and Freeman outweighs everything that Auburn brings, like proximity to home and a familiar culture. I don't think it looks good for ND, the only silver lining is if they make it through this, I think it's likely Deuce stays committed through anything else that comes along.

I am talking about now and going into the future
You are talking about Auburn correct? Not going to happen.

So what if Auburn has some good WRs? Their OL cant stop anyone. Without an OL, you arent going anywhere on offense.

This would be my counter if I were ND. Auburn signed one of if not the worst O-line classes in the entire country. That's also not fixable in the portal. It is doable at receiver which we have already shown

??? What the hell does that mean? Now???? Auburn is not even projected to be a top 10 team, whereas ND is!
Auburn is coming off 3 consecutive losing seasons. I really don't understand the Hugh Freeze hype. Dude was a complete disaster at Ole Miss. He had 1 good year there and then everything cratered there. Then he had the same 1 good year at Liberty and somehow he's an elite coach?

If Deuce is following the bag man, then he's being insanely shortsighted, because he obviously hasn't been paying attention to all the false promises in the NIL sphere, especially when it comes to SEC schools.

Do you feel the same way when ND flips a kid that’s committed to a different school.
I think it depends.

As much as it sucks, Ivan Taylor was at least upfront with the staff in his interest in other schools. So when he flips, I hate it, but the dude did it in a way that you can't really knock. Things changed. The staff member that he had the biggest connection with left for the league, and Michigan had a staff member who he was close with.

All the stuff about Deuce saying he isn't taking visits, and then he does, that shows me that he isn't being upfront or honest. If you're going to be at the forefront of the recruiting class and are expecting to lead the offense, you need to take on the accountability of that responsibility. So when you are the head of the class and you're going behind everyone's back to visit other schools, that shows a lack of integrity.

Deuce reportedly called ND to let them know he was visiting Auburn. I’m sure it was made clear to him that a huge $ offer was coming if he attended. I’d do the same thing. I don’t think any of us can fathom what these 17-18 year olds are getting thrown at them when they’re top 50 elite recruits.

Is Tuesday some kind of event for Auburn? Keep seeing Tuesday being brought up on their board.

Auburn offers a huge bag... OK.
I think we all agree that if Deuce goes to Auburn, its for the $$$ and that if ND were to match, he probably ends up at ND.
What I dont get is why ND would bother saying no to him? Why not just string him along on the pretense of having to see if they can raise the money, all the while just killing time and letting the energy of the Auburn offer slowly wear off. If they agree to match, they are just opening themselves up to potentially months of having to continue to match the next best offer.
Let him stew and meanwhile keep working the phones to see if they can land a replacement. If he is looking, ND should be looking.

If the flip is the script, do we have a shot of our flip of this guy?
That was an odd one.

Remember last summer when this kid just blew up for like five minutes, got all the offers, then immediately committed to Clemson. He appears to have missed almost his entire junior year with a broken ankle, fallen pretty hard in the ratings (FWIW) and transferred from the school where Preston Zinter went in Mass. to the school that Matty Augustine and Ethan Long go to in Connecticut.

So, who the F knows. Couldn't hurt to call him though.

I'd be curious - almost just as an experiment - to see what would happen if we put out a bunch of QB offers this week.

He hasn’t decommitted, yet publicly at least. That’s the way it goes now and sadly, a lot of guys commit way too early on in the process.
Let me fix that for you...

Honestly, we'd probably be throwing some offers out if he did decommit to the staff though.

Maybe there’s more to it than money, location, culture, familiarities with other recruits and teammates?

Specifically, playing time and competition. Auburn doesn’t have a CJ Carr sitting on its roster. Deuce can go and be “the guy” from day one with little to no competition. Deuce may be (or would have been) riding the pine for quote sometime at Notre Dame.

Walker White was in CJ Carr's class and was ranked ahead of him on 247. They also like Hank Brown who's a redshirt freshman. Their depth chart is no different than ours other than they don't have the supporting cast or staff to be successful.

I have no clue how Auburn is in this recruitment. Hugh Freeze is about as likeable as trash can juice, we're reportedly willing to match NIL or at least within the ballpark, and Deuce was very publicly their 3rd or 4th option.

It’s over.

Loys stance hasn’t changed. Doesn’t look good for ND. The SEC and being close to home is the narrative. ND not giving up, but has watched film the past week to look for next guy. Have narrowed in on one specifically and may have reached out. But doesn’t want that out yet.
