Looks like the other day he RT'd a little love from a guy who plays for Auburn -a pic the Auburn guy posted of the two of them probably from a past high school game. But that's about it. His IG is still mostly Notre Dame stuff and Twitter mostly shouting out pals.
Not like he tweeted his Auburn photo shoot or anything.

Dang. As of right now, outside of OL, this offensive class is basically a group of 5 class.
Our highest ranked skill position commit is about to be the number 565th ranked recruit in the country. I'm sure the staff is focused on our football season but I don't know how they couldn't be in some version of panic mode over how to bring this one together.

What’s bad is other than burress, the other 3 are probably worse than their rankings

You can’t talk constantly about importance of recruiting and have a class that may end up outside the top 15

Horrible loose your top offensive player when we already lost our top defensive guy

There's still time between now and NSD, but I sincerely hope that the staff doesn't panic and fill the rest of the offensive class with low-ranked players with limited upside just to get numbers. If worst comes to worst, hit the portal hard (including paying some freshman that hit the portal) and have it light a fire under the offensive staff that they really can't afford to take many reaches in the 2026 class.

I'm not too worried about it, to be honest. Just win. ND's NIL package has proven to be profitable. If you are QB1 at ND, you are set. With this day and age of the portal, we will be more than fine. If Deuce wants to choose easy vs. challenging himself, that is his call. I suspect if he doesn't choose ND there will be many, many, many days he will wish he had. Still think he is a great kid and super talented. Think he would be a great ambassador for the Irish. Its hard for 18 year old kids to be mature and make the best decision. However, if a place is offering me millions at 18 years old and I won't have to do a lot to get there, it would be super tempting. Will the Auburn checks actually show up? Who knows. ND is proven that in this day and age, QB won't be a problem, though. If we win big this year, recruiting will take care of itself. I have full confidence in this staff and the culture they have built. Can't beat it anywhere.

Agreed on winning this season. Denbrock and Gino need to pull off a season with an exciting and high-scoring O that powers wins and ND into the playoff and that should help a lot. At first, was wondering if the Skunkbears were even gonna benefit from winning it all, but does seem as of late, they've been securing some top blue chips.

With the new landscape of college football and the portal, I don't give two shits if DK comes to ND or not. Hypothetically give me a 22 year old kid from Tulane that threw for 4k yards and 30 TDs over an unproven 18 year old Freshman from Mississippi. Even if DK came to ND and balled out, very good chance he jumps in the portal to an SEC power house anyway.

Huge difference between recruiting guys as a coordinator and being a head coach responsible for the entire show

Have to hold your coordinators and asst coaches responsible for their performance and oversee strategy

Also simply don't have the time to be high contact with recruits

I think that's starting to materialize

Was discussing this idea at lunch today. What incentive is there for coaches to recruit unproven guys when you can just go steal some other school's guy?

But I disagree that we'd have to worry about him leaving if he came and balled. I don't think ND has had anyone leave for greener pastures?

Yep.... The comment "every coach will be a relentless recruiter" is not at all what is happening or what he's hired.

Takes the check from Auburn, Auburn loses 4-5 games each of the next few seasons, dude bounces tf out and brings us a natty.
My only problem with this thinking is that once a player, esp. a QB, goes down this game playing path in recruiting, they tend to become like Dinty Moore Stew and be transfer happy and never come back to ND, always chasing something

True, but I'm also factoring in how he was all ND until Aub is willing to pay. Seems like the type of kid that comes to ND goes 11-2 and as soon as UGA or Bama offer big check he'd bounce.

It's kind of like, once you've gone through your first divorce, number 2, 3 and 4 are pretty easy peasy.
