Re SoBend being unsafe, about fifteen years ago there was a gang "war" during the summer that saw 100 gun shot deaths in a hundred days. Per capita that was the highest in the country. It is much better now
Re MFMF: the hiring decision did not evolve around a single point but what was perceived as the best option at the time
Re Deuce: can't blame a kid for trying to figure out what's best in a sport that is evolving daily. This is not 1990. Things they are a cha

Disagree. Kids talk. They probably get hints from Knight and other teammates that he wasn’t solid to ND.

They also saw that he was on campus the most out of anyone. Came earlier than scheduled and left later.

Only piece of information that can back you up is that Deuce was still open to communication to other schools “just in case”

Knight was the main point of contact for all of the staffs top offensive targets. It’s not that he didn’t do his job, and was lacking, it’s just that those recruits chose different schools for different reasons.
Doesn’t this prove the point you tried to contradict?

So he didn’t do a good job…. Recruits many times want to play for a specific qb

Sure, but it’s also ND. It’s a different school than most. Not everyone is going to be a fit. Not everyone is going to want the academic rigours, the rather lacklustre social life of the city of South Bend, and the weather.

Deuce gets unfairly criticized for the WR recruiting. The staff made some odd choices to not pursue some ND fits (ie Cooper Perry), and unfortunately couldn’t convince others that WR were the best positions.. among other reasons.

My point was that Deuce was putting in the work. I’ve read a lot of articles - offensive and defensive players, whether committed or a top target, consistently all mentioned how much Deuce would hit them up.

Since the 0/3 on the WRs in July, Deuce has gotten the title of not doing enough to help WR recruiting. Which just isn’t true.

In recruiting if the talking heads feel the need to keep making a point that should be given it’s because it’s bullshit. Everest Gholstoning is so smart see? he cant read music but hands made a chord on a piano one time and we saw him pluck an upright bass. Then kid was a basket case dumby. The constant how solid deuce is was always bull shit. He never was. May still end up here but was always a reluctant face of the class and did a shitty job. Don’t be daft look at his high school swaperoo and pretend that it’s not either dipshit or shady. And being here all those times and early and late … you get he was a paid employee clocking in and out right?

If he was paid, he showed up and did the work.

How much do you know about him changing schools? Better competition at Brentwood than at Rural George County. Also; he was going to be deemed ineligible if he had stayed at Brentwood.

We don’t have one single offensive recruit we not only wouldn’t have got without deuce but also not single one that isn’t just a typical what we get in our lane going back to Weiss. Three great offensive tackles from the north. A top tight end. That shit is given man those are straight non playable characters built into the ND sim along with two 3 star running backs, bus kid, and one receiver from a former NFL er smart enough to know how much more value there is in ND. There is zeroing recruiting kudos deserved by freeman or anyone on staff for playing status quo anti on that. So do not even begin to give lip service to what deuce brought us…the answer is zero. If we had nominal other mid 4 star qb (bear bachmeier or equivalent) and non yosemite same shoot your own damn foot jack assery Brown did we would have the three more receicers already and woulda been some functional cooper cup mid 4 level players.

Hahahaha, you have to add grain the last few months to build some marbling, which is where the taste comes from ... 'the presence of marbling has an extremely positive effect on the eating quality of beef, in terms of tenderness, juiciness/moisture and flavor'. The fat makes the meat softer and easier to chew!
Broccoli isn’t as good as Doritos either but it has its merits.

Idk, the Sunnymede / Potawatomi area has improved greatly since I was in college.

South Bend isn’t some war zone, it’s just an overall shitty, depressing, rundown place. Other than being cheap, it’s got very few redeeming qualities. The best thing about it is its proximity to Chicago and the lake.

This is what most students don’t realize. West Michigan lakeshore all the way up to the UP is a damn paradise. But most students are there in the winter.

While I agree SB isn’t super great, the proximity to the things you mention make it perfect. You’re an hour and a half from the largest airport in the word and the third largest US city. You’re 40 minutes away from the largest body of freshwater in the world. Baroda is wine country. St Joe on up Michigan is lined with wealthy lakeshore beach towns like Saugatuck all the way up the coastline. Mishawaka has all the amenities you could ask for. I don’t really know what else one needs. It’s a fit thing I guess. But I can’t find a more beautiful campus that meets a lot of big criteria. I’m not saying it’s Pablo Alto, but it’s far better than people make it out to be.

haven't seen all of South Bend but it can't be any worse than a lot of D1 college towns like for instance i live only 30 minutes from Lafayette and home of Purdue and it is an okay town but nothing worth bragging about if i lived there

I wonder if Bachmeier has had time to develop a relationship with Jon Anthony Hall yet?

Or that he was telling them that he was about NIL

He’s clearly not about nd, he’s about finding out how to get the most out of a school. That’s ok and it could still be ND, but makes sense why recruits aren’t following him.

Why not just say they promised to pay 💰 💰 💰 the most and hope to hell thaf unlike TAMU and Florida and ….checks notes USC. That it actually happens this time and isn’t all bullshit. I am sure Jared Smith is correct it will all be fine Hugh Freeze a good christian and what not.
One of the podcasts recently did mention that NIL is a big factor for Auburn. I can't remember if it was II or one of The Independent pods

I'm trying to catch up but can someone give me the update? Is he all but gone, or is it just a bunch of chicken littles?
I listened to the Locked On recruiting guy (Brian Smith) who covers ND recruiting. He said, plain & simple; that it’s NIL. Auburn was in on the QB that committed to USC but the kid’s dad wanted crazy NIL $ that even Auburn wasn’t willing to pay. SC did so Auburn had to hone in on Deuce. They reportedly offered Deuce the same money they offered the kid that went to USC (can’t recall his name but you recruitniks will know). Smith then said he had ”heard” that ND would match whatever Auburn offered (pure speculation he stressed).

Auburn is simply going down the list until they win a bidding war & Knight was the next highest rated QB. For context, Smith added that this happens at most other SEC schools for multiple players so ND fans have to realize that bidding wars (free agency) is the “new normal”. The elite recruits have ALL the leverage. Teams can either stick w/ them until the end & be left at the altar or they can cut bait. When it’s an elite program changing player, teams will stick w/ them.

Hate the game, not the players.

UPDATE: Pete Sampson said he was told from someone in the program that Auburn offered “crazy” money to Deuce. So this is an additional source basically confirming the same thing.

I don’t think South Bend being a “safe” city has anything to do with it. If it was some kind of war zone (it’s clearly not), the safety issue would’ve made the rounds in recruiting circles & we would all have heard stories involving players’ safety over the years. Now one thing South Bend can’t offer that most P4 public schools can is that laid back, “fun” college atmosphere with a much higher female to male ratio than what Notre Dame can offer. Notre Dame is a beautiful campus but the winters suck & it’s never going to be confused w/ any of the schools that make the “Top Party School” list.

I’ve been on campus multiple times since my first visit in 1997. Idyllic college campus but there’s little question it compares to Ole Miss or Auburn when it comes to what your average HS grad is looking for when it comes to a college experience. Throw in $500K to an athlete who won’t have to worry about his grades & it’s even more enticing. When it comes to southern kids, proximity can play a big part too. Sure the kid may be all in on leaving home from the Deep South. But if an uncle or dad want to cash in, it becomes another big issue.

Call me crazy, but I still see this working out for ND as long as they keep their NIL offer competitive. Kid clearly loves ND and wants to be here. He’s also smart enough to understand that a crazy NIL offer from Auburn is worth checking out. If ND is competitive financially with Auburn, I believe Knight will be Irish

Auburn just gonna be this year’s TAMU from 2023 where none of those players got paid. Most were gone by next season and never played and coach got fired. Auburn occasionally cheats their way to relevance but this one time cash grift isn’t gonna do it this time around.

I think it's best to look at the collection of wide receivers recruited by each throughout these cycles rather than the general rankings.

Gotta admit the kid played it smooth. Ride the gravy train all summer full of free trips then dip once summers over for the bigger bag.
