Arguing with my buddies about this question.

1) How many QBs would you take over CJ throughout college football for this season?
- - I said maybe 2,3. Mateer, Lanorris probably.

2) How many for next season?
- - I said zero.
What about Simpson (Alabama)...maybe? Probably not actually as Carr is just going to get better each game or so it would seem.

As of today, I'm not trading Carr for anybody.

Also, I initially read CJ as CJ Leak (stud QB commit who renegged on SIgning Day 1999 in favor of Wake Forest.) Most of these names never seem to depart from memory.

Agree but I think by end of year Carr is best QB. Shouldn’t be hard to get some stud WRs to come in whether it be recruiting or transfer I think we will need at least one transfer after this year. Maybe 2. I’d love Nick Marsh to transfer here from Michigan State. Wouldn’t be surprised if both Clemson WR’s bolt after this year.
If he is only here for next year it won't affect recruiting, maybe some nice transfers

No way, I wouldn't take anybody else at this point. Carr has been all in since Day 1, never faltered. He's all Irish, he's the guy I want in that huddle.

I'd like to see him play an entire season first. As much as I've enjoyed watching him thus far, and there is a lot to like, I'm not going to get ahead of myself plugging him into draft boards just yet. Going to Winston Wolf this one for a minute.

He's 2-2 as a starter and tore apart two bad defenses, but somehow he might not be around in this year or that down the road?

If some of us had our way, Drew Allar would have started that game against Arkansas.

Was there a winter storm that recently hit? I ask because a number of posters are way out over their ski's

I hope all of our wildest dreams are realized with CJ but it's early. We haven't seen a flawless game from CJ but Arkansas was pretty good. More importantly, we haven't seen a bad game yet. Are his bad games like Miami or does he fall of a cliff when a DC has him confused?

VDP - doing his best to ensure his center of mass is placed proportionately for his terrain, speed and ski length.

This is the best a Notre Dame QB has looked in YEARS. Ian Book, who started a million games, never looked like this. Riley Leonard can only dream of having the arm talent Carr has.

What will happen when a DC has him confused? I guess we’ll find out. But I know that Notre Dame has the best running backs in the country and a gelling OL, which will make it nearly impossible to cheat the pass.

He played very well against a good Miami defense when he wasn’t handcuffed by his own coaches

Its what we see with our eyes which is backed up by statistics as well. He's 2nd in the nation in QBR after his first 4 career starts, including 2 top 10 teams. Its not hyperbole.

QB play sucks now. People are excited because Carr is one of the few who actually plays QB well. Pocket presence and working through progressions are a lost art and Carr has it down. Once he gets better while panicking he won't have a really obvious flaw.

Dan Wetzel is not an NFL Draft Expert. Neither is anyone here.

Moving on to Boise State.

Bump

Just want to keep this guy ahead of flaky Dinty Moore. Carr had a MONSTER game, and we are still talking about other QBs who didn't come to ND.

Carr is a beast, and I couldn't be more pumped to have him directing the offense!

Carr is 2  defensive plays away from being a Heisman frontrunner. Also that PFF grade is, what do the kids say? Sus...

2026 is the year where this team should be built and loaded with NFL talent and we should be deep all across the board. The staff needs to do a good job and filling holes this offseason. Find a replacement for Fields, get 2 DT's to come in and play, maybe grab a TE if Raridon doesn't get a 5th. All the other positions should be loaded and deep.

In addition he was playing from behind when passing was anticipated. A&Ms D looked pretty good yesterday and Ark is respectable. Purdue held usc to under 30 on offense. Hoping that Boise isn’t better than any of these teams.

This is where I'm at. I watch guys who have 3-4 years in their programs struggle with shit Carr was doing at Miami. Carr has good footwork, good mechanics, he reads the field and works his progressions, he doesn't get happy feet, can make any throw, throws a catchable ball, has touch and accuracy, etc.

Carr is young and still relatively inexperienced so he'll make mistakes, but he seems to learn from them as he goes along.

Someone knocked Carr for being "2-2," but correct me if my memory fails me as I approach 40 but didn't Carr in his first career start take us from down multiple scores in the 4th to tied and his defense gave up the go ahead field goal and then his next career game engineer a late 4th go ahead touchdown drive where he was once again let down by his defense?

A lot of people seem to share this opinion, but I've been watching since 1981 (Blair Kiel), and I've never seen anybody at ND like Carr. Montana certainly wasn't at Carr's level in college. I'm too young to have seen Joe Theisman at ND, but he might be the only competition. Clausen and Brady Quinn have been two of the brighter spots, and neither was much good until their third year as a starter.

I feel like there is so much revisionist history with Book, especially from the beat writers. Carr is already so much better than him even as a RS Senior. Book was a very solid college QB by his final year, but by no means was he elite.

It’s still batshit crazy to me that he received 5 first place Heisman votes lmao.

Book was a gamer and had a lot of heart, but when we were matched up with the elite we were outmanned. No knock against him, but that is just who he was.
