Their last game they blew a double digit lead & lost at the end by a score.
2021 got housed by UGA & 2022 gave up a half a hundred in a loss to TCU. (Who got put to sleep by UGA).

Michigan in 2021 & 2022 built their entire teams around OSU & that was their only game each season. They had 9 scrimmages to prepare each season. That helps.

The Final score of the 2018 Peach Bowl was 41 Florida 15 Michigan. After they were obliterated in Columbus 62-39.

Harbaugh took one beating in the last two years and that was UGA, and right now I don't see anyone getting criticized for losing to UGA.

Their 2018 team was good as evidenced by the guys who were on it that ended up drafted, but the results still have to matter. Ohio State had one that conference 4 years in a row and they had to get past them, which they hadn't done in a very long time.

I think if Al Washington doesn’t close on Scott, he will be in Aguas Caliente.

Without Scott this is not a gap closing defensive class they need him

On paper, I like this plan. Let all the OVs get out of the way and have ND as the final one in the season. But I think Scott needs to UOV to campus during summer and adhere to the OV plan for fall. He seems too impressionable and while he may fully intend to go to ND when all is said and done, he's like a fish seeing a shiny lure and if he gets mesmerized with a NIL school, throw the plan on paper out.

Surprise summer UOV is critical IMO.

I don't really blame a coach if we lose a recuit like this to Georgia or Miami. Georgia is Georgia and if a Midwestern kid picks Miami over Notre Dame they're simply not buying what we're selling. That's not the coach's fault.
Michigan though? That'd be a different story. Fuck them. And the Elston angle doesn't make it any easier to swallow.

Without a few players not only is it not gap closing the gap will be getting a good bit bigger

The issue is we had an average dline class in 23, 24 class is a little better. Need it to be a lot better. Corner is solid, hopefully safety works itself out, linebacker the 22/23 class has to be all that so the 24 class projects can be that

The gap is not going to become larger because Scott decides not to come to ND.

The DLine class was good in '23. Keeley would have made it a great class. The DLine class now in '24 is a good class. Scott and/or Rushing would make it a great class.

In three seasons, you'll have a total defensive line classes comprised of Gobiara, Ford, Hinish, Mukam, Houstan, Vernon, Traore, Sevillano, Mullins & Young. Throw in Vypers Burham, Tuihalamaka, Zinter (IMO, likely) and Thomas.

On paper, that all looks pretty good.

Corner isn’t solid, Safety is garbage and so is LB. It’s pretty much all bad outside of the DL.

I never said Scott only, I said a few players.
How was last years class good? The rankings are solid but that’s not evaluating film. there’s a reason why none of the big boys wanted our dline players from last year.

Vernon had early offers and everyone backed off as he did not play good at all jr and sr year in HS. Houston was being recruited heavily by lower level power 5. We beat BC for Traore. No good football schools went after Mukam… maybe and hopefully Al Washington is a genius evaluator but on film I don’t see it, and the good football schools agreed.

Do you think the class is good due to having 3 4 stars or because you think they’re good? I know others are high on traore, I could maybe see that one but very raw. If Vernon commits himself maybe he becomes good. I just don’t see it with houston and mukam.

No one backed off Vernon. He committed early. His film was fine. It’s not the downfall you make it out to be. He had an up and down Army game and practice just because he is so raw in his technique, but 90% of high schoolers are.

Houstan was wanted by many programs. Traore only had a few schools after him because he committed to BC early then got some interest following his de commitment, but chose ND.

Mukam is raw but the staff love the traits and upside he brings.

Mullins for sure. Most of the ND beat can't figure out why he's rated so low currently, but dude is big, athletic and freakishly explosive for his size (6'4 240).

Sevillano has a high ceiling. A lot will come down to him improving his technique and getting his weight good. But guys who are 6'2 320 aren't suppose to be that explosive off the line.

On Mullins, it’s likely due to the fact that he never had one true position. He was playing off ball, on the edge, and at Mike linebacker on his film. As you said, a dude that big that can moves sideline-to-sideline with that level of power won’t remain a three-star.

I Wonder how he will be used this season at Mill Creek. Im not sure if the staff has any say whatsoever on where they want him to play his senior season, but it’s best if he sees more snaps as an edge defender than a Mike linebacker

It's just bizarre to me that Joe Schmo's like you and me can see that kind of potential for a guy with his size and ability to move that well, but nobody on any major recruiting service can.

I mean, I could see it if this was a guy like Rezac, who plays in Nebraska. But Mullins played in Georgia. Scratch that, he played in the HIGHEST CLASSIFICATION in Georgia for a state championship winning team. Especially now, North Atlanta is a buzzsaw in terms of HS football.
