The below quote stood out to me. Stanford sucking has its benefits. We need to win everyone of these battles when we have the chance.

“What gave Notre Dame the reach over Stanford was the fact that they're competing at a national championship-level consistently,” says James. “That's something that Stanford used to be able to do, but the past five years, they really haven't been able to give people that.”

Hoping Coack Stuckey opens the door to the Texas HS talent for ND. This looks like a great addition toa position in need.

Thank you and congratulations Braylon and family! Heck of an athlete and so very well spoken. We are starting to fill the positions of need with really awesome players. Not sure why it is taking this long but WR's are a very welcome addition. Some great recruiting by MF and the coaching staff!

Cheers and Go Irish!!

I’m not trying to take any credit here, but on the same day I made a $2 donation to the NIL collective, James commits. Coincidence? I think not.
My Man! A&M is throwing millions around while FDNY reels one in for $2.

I liked his breakdown and he has a great personality for a channel. Really hope Braylon finds a way to reclassify.

If he makes it happen on his end. ND sure better make it happen on theirs.

After a record NIL deal with a Law Firm in Phoenix, Braylon James throws a shout out to the enigmatic character known only as Whiskey who facilitated the deal, by wearing an Arizona t-shirt under his warm-ups.
My firm isn't quite ready to compete with Phil Knight on "record breaking" NIL money, though I could broker the deal by introducing him to some local alumni that might be. Regardless, you definitely won't find me repping the Wildcats or handing out their swag.

As for Braylon reclassifying, the conventional wisdom is that it'll never happen. Historically, ND Admissions seems to take the position that, "We're already making exceptions to our academic standards because you're an elite athlete, and the expectation is that you'll need lots of help to keep up in the classroom once you get here anyway. Now you expect us to let you skip your senior year of high school too? Fat chance."

But the curriculum at most American high schools is complete dogshit, so how much is that final year really increasing "college readiness"... especially once senioritis is factored in? The Athletic Department has long recognized the benefits of early admission, because the sooner a kid is getting elite training and nutrition, the higher their ceiling becomes. Unless grade inflation is totally rampant at Stony Point, his grades indicate that Braylon has the mental acuity to keep up in a Notre Dame classroom. Wouldn't it be better to get him on campus ASAP?

Maybe you could take a page out of Phil's playbook and offer a cut of future Whiskey earnings. Magic was offered a bunch of near worthless Nike stock ($.18 share) so he chose Converse (like everyone else then) His deal would've been worth north of $5B today.

Can it be inferred that by not repping Zona that you choose ASU as your local favorite? Or do both equally turn your stomach?

This Braylon reclassifying business spooks me. ND needs to make it happen if he's pushing. Your logic is sound on being better off their than skating through at a public school back home. EVERY kid is better off at ND sooner, rather than later.

Why should ND be worried about the ramifications of changing policies on reclassifiers? I mean, Duke's academic rep hasn't been altered after they took Marvin Bagley with only three years of HS, two of which were Corona Del Sol and a fake charter school posing as AAU Basketball meets The Romper Room.

My dad's a Sun Devil, so I didn't have much say in the matter. Don't have much hatred toward Arizona (difficulty to feel anything but pity, really), nor much passion for ASU. But people I care about are happy when ASU wins; simple as.

Agreed. They've already accepted that logic as applied to athletics, so it shouldn't be a stretch to apply it to academics as well.
Why should ND be worried about the ramifications of changing policies on reclassifiers? My impression isn't that they're worried about setting bad precedence or hurting their academic reputation. It's just a stubborn prejudice along the lines of:
  1. ND is an elite university; and
  2. ND's general admission pool is extremely competitive;
  3. Therefore, unless a kid is Dougie Howser, he or she cannot possibly merit admission after only three years of high school.
NDFB commits merit admission by virtue of their elite athletic abilities. We care about providing our athletes with a real education, so a kid has to at least demonstrate that he's got the core knowledge and mental acuity to complete a course of study at ND. But that's a much lower hurdle to clear, and our athletes have tons of support while on campus.

Huge numbers of incoming freshman at state schools are demonstrably not "college ready". They're having to take remedial writing courses just to be able to participate in any college classroom, let alone complete a BA. That's obviously not an issue for the average incoming freshman at ND, but a lot of our athletic recruits are coming from the same schools that are broadly failing their students. In light of that, if an NDFB recruit has Braylon's grades and they feel he's at least equipped to tackle FYS (or whatever they recently replaced it with) with support and hard work, they ought to jump at the opportunity to get him on campus sooner than later.
