Football program alone makes 54-62 Million a year with a horrendous TV contract. Let's give back 5-10 percent a year to NIL to the players that produce demand and move the needle on the product.

I want to win too, but that’s a terrible deal for a relatively small private University. The $ from football are still tiny relative to the Academic Mission/endowment; and directly paying for athletes opens you up completely if their is any sort of player misconduct with the rest of the student body.

Somehow Baylor survived what should have been a death blow to the institution under Art Briles, but I think it would certainly be a death blow if the university was paying.

Your proposed solutions are idiotic. Notre Dame Football generates $100 million in revenue. Revenue is different than profit. Of that $100M, I bet their profits are somewhere in the range of $10-15M. You suggested that the university directly uses 25-50% of that money to pay a bunch of teenagers. Not only is it bad optics, it makes no fucking sense given other priorities of the program and AD.

As many have said, if ND wants to compete with other schools dropping bags, the only thing it can do that it hasn’t done is facilitate a booster-run collective. I would personally be in complete favor of this, but can see the other side when you look at the aTm dumpster fire.

You know what's tiresome... Not grasping that 5 stars like Keeley, Moore, Bowen equate to more wins, which brings in more money full stop.
4 for 40 is a pro, just not one for a team that competes for titles. How long does an ND grad have to work for 1-2 mil?
4 for 40 is your excuse to accept and justify why we don't sign these 5 stars. Or sell them to ND.
That's not my view and don't forget that without ND Football the University wouldn't be anywhere close to where it is today.

I don’t know what the number is, but it’s not a ridiculous assumption. A bunch of schools operated at a deficit recently. I believe Swarbrick has spoken to it in better detail before and alluded to ND operating closer to even then the past. Yes we are still talking millions, tens of millions even but the implication that it’s much greater is probably more ridiculous than what was put forth.
