You are also dreaming if you think OU aren't paying or don't have a way to get these kids paid.
Right?! MJL1028 has to be a troll account like our resident OrSUBeaver poster. Bomar and his car lot “employment” was 2006. I hope OU loses every game because of fellow okies like this cat.

What makes you jakelegs think OU had some sort of great talent advantage in the Big 12? The team was so depleted going into this season. Sure, there were a few good guys still on the roster but for the most part they had to coach leftover 2nd and 3rd stringers. You THINK OU had a talent advantage because they're OU and that's what we've come to expect. But this was a group of misfits mixed in with some transfers that were brought in just to piece together a team.

You have a coach that specializes in defense, attitude, and being physical. He puts together a hell of a staff and also brings back one of the best strength coaches in the business to get a real system in place and bring back the swagger that has been missing for a long time. He's trying to get rid of the soft mentality that's been on campus for far too long and weed out the players that don't wanna put in the work.....and you lame brain idiots think these coaches just suck all of a sudden because they're trying to actually coach kids to be great that had already been taught that laziness was okay?

Come on guys. It's not rocket science here. It's just a good old fashioned case of "just let me get my guys out there and then we'll talk"
We'll be fine with coach BV.

So you think OU is paying kids and their parents the way those other programs are? I'm not talking about real NIL deals, I'm talking about pay for play, actually paying to get a kid to commit. Is that what you think we're doing SON?

Maybe. Good luck, buddy. Have a feeling you will need it. Good for you for being a dedicated fan, though.

Sorry man, but that's just wishful thinking on your part. It's okay, we'll just see how it all plays out, but the chances of OU not getting much better are pretty slim. People are thrown off because of what OU had been doing before but they haven't actually thought about just how depleted this team was when this staff took over or the fact that running a new system with players that were already taught one way is not all that easy.

People also forget that OU wasn't even as good as their record showed last year with Riley. They went 10-2 but could've easily been 6-6. And that's with about 15-20 good players still on the roster making contributions. Imagine taking over a team that lost about 95% of it's real talent off a team that couldn't even defend at all or move the ball efficiently on offense either. Venables should be given a medal of honor.

You can say these coaches aren't making a difference, but you have to remember, these are not their guys. They're a bunch of kids that were recruited by the previous staff to play a very soft, finesse style of ball. And that doesn't line up with what Venables is trying to do. Even the strength and conditioning program now is on another level from what it was before, and most of these guys haven't been able to adjust to it because they were never asked to work that hard before. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken you know what.

Most of these kids would not be playing for Venables at Clemson and they certainly wouldn't be on the roster at any top tier program. They absolutely ARE leftovers, nothing more and nothing less. That's why they have to get their own players on the field, and when they do you're gonna see the difference, trust me. This staff is working their butts off to get good players and were not even buying kids like Texas, A&M, Georgia, and Notre Dame 😉. Nobody ever complained about the job Venables was doing when he had real talent. So let's just see what happens. And yes, he was just a DC before and he's a head coach now. It won't matter, trust me.
OU not playing the NIL game? Come with me. I’ve got a bridge for sale at a reasonable price.

To be fair to our Arkansas Oklahoma fan, barring the big donor just deciding to do more than match, they are going to fall short of their NIL Collective goal.

I'm suuuuuuuure they're giving NIL deals to volleyball players and gymnasts lol.

I’m not going to take the time to read the OU fan’s post until this weekend when I have my cheat day & hit the Scotch…then I will reply in kind.
I’m just saying, would be best for the rest of us if we just had a Reaper only thread. Now I have to check every thread to see if you’ve had your scotch.

I would like to just leave you keep talking because of how delusional you come off. I keep thinking to myself someone who knows the college football world cannot really be this naive? Then you keep running with it and here I am back again.

Please lets shut down on this ludacris idea that 95% of Oklahoma's player would not be on a top tiers roster! According to 247 composite recruiting rankings Oklahoma's last few classes would rank:
2018 9
2019 6
2020 12
2021 11

Some decent rankings since according to you only 5% would make a top program's roster? Then add to that their 2022 class was ranked 8th and they had a top 5 transfer portal class too! You are still saying they have no talent on their roster? Yes, they did lose some players like Caleb Williams but please lets be real about talent wise on the roster! You also go on about bringing in 1 top QB in their upcoming class. I do have memories of your fanbase running another top QB Spencer Rattler off the field. The point being many top QBs do not pan out to be the savior of the program as our fanbase knows well.

To end, lets address the comment on buying players. First off you really do not think Oklahoma is buying players but then accuse Notre Dame of it? You serious Clark? Secondly, I do not think anyone that supports a team that let a coach like Lincoln Riley run their program should be throwing stones at anyone else?

I won't sit here and claim that you are very wrong, nobody knows for sure. One thing I feel I am very, very good at (it has won me a ton of games) is breaking down film. And I can tell you with certainty (whether you choose to believe it or not) that Oklahoma was not very well coached this year. And that had nothing to do with talent. You can't blame poor fundamentals and scheme on the last staff. I can take kids with poor fundamentals and by the end of the year, you see DRASTIC improvements and they are playing good fundamental ball. And I have high school kids. I have watched Oklahoma at the beginning, middle, and end of the season, and without a doubt, they are not very well coached. If they get better athletes, they will just tackle poorly faster or get out of position quicker. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I don't think I'm wrong on this. If you want to see a well coached team, watch Clark Lea's defenses at ND. Those were some well coached defenses, even if not the most athletic.

Sorry man, but if you don't think having the right players to run your system matters then maybe you aren't as good at evaluating as you think. It all comes down to having the players. Saban, Kirby Smart, Dabo Swinney, and plenty of others will tell you the same thing. These kids that were out there don't have the instincts and the desire to consistently be great and that's not something you can just teach. When you see the progress OU starts making with the new guys, you'll understand what I'm talking about.

On Sunday mornings I sit at church while everyone else is singing hymns & I start to wonder what the hell did I post the night before?
Then I get home & check & it’s even worse than I imagined.
It’s like the end of the Hangover when they are looking at the pictures from the previous night…
I usually run Saturday morning then grapple from noon until two. About 2:30 the scotch starts going down & im already dehydrated as it is. So around 6-7 it’s scorched earth time. No conscience. No effs given.
No prisoners.

Quick question?

Did anyone ever explain to that you should never call grown men, “son,” who are not, in fact, your children?

I notice you call people, “son” a lot?

Pretty good actually. Maybe because our coaches adapted to the players they had and put them in positions to succeed. No one blamed anything on a coaching “system” or players that didn’t fit said system. Good luck in the SEC son.

I don't feel you are bringing relevant information to this thread but I would recommend you take your talents to the Dante Moore thread. We usually discuss our favorite restaurants and fast food there and I feel that you might be a better fit for those discussions

I only use it when I feel the need, and with this bunch of crazy kids in here, there's definitely a need. I almost hope OU doesn't flip Peyton Bowen because if they do, you guys are gonna be crying about it like little babies.

First of all son, it's not tears. It's just OU fans being honest and keeping it real about WHY this season has been a total disaster. Nobody is sad that Riley is gone because he was way too soft. We were going nowhere and getting there fast with him. And we know we hired a coach that can bring the swagger back when he's actually had time to get a system in place. And also, Caleb is a turd and everybody knows it. We're just making sure people are aware of it, and by now the smart ones certainly are.

How many people outside of southern California do you think were actually rooting for sc against Utah? Exactly! And do you know why that is? Its because everybody knows they're a couple of fruitcakes and total fakes. Caleb can play no doubt, but he's soft just like Riley. We'll take Venables and Jackson Arnold any day over those fairies.

So like I said, it's not tears. We just tell the truth. We're gonna end up much better when the smoke clears.

I like how his main argument is OU was devoid of talent on roster.

Bruh, OU is 9th in talent composite. They're ahead of Notre Dame in that regard. Outside of Texas, they got beat by the likes of TCU (32nd), Baylor (41st), West Virginia (44th), Texas Tech (45th) and Kansas State (70th). I get that talent isn't always going to guarantee you a win, but geez, you'd think they at least be able to win MOST of them.

And they finished 6-6. FFS, they gave up 38+ points in half their games this year! Nobody expected Venables to have this team firing on all cylinders, but Christ, the defense was somehow worse than anything Riley ever fielded, and it wasn't that close.
