Watch what they do. Don't listen to what they say. And do not get excited about verbals months before signing day.

But listen VERY carefully to what they DON'T say and when the industry doesn't saying anything about them and ND.

ND needs to put their big boy pants on and start paying these kids. This is literally the one area we should dominate that doesn’t go against any of our holier than thou principles.

Singer has said that ND was considering him an uncommitted prospect for the past few weeks. Think no OV's elsewhere still applies. Makes the Bowen comments from a couple weeks back, and Moore taking his OVs now make more sense.

Oh well, won't miss him. We're literally drowning in talent at the CB position. Oh. Wait...

Accurate. I don’t really consider this a loss because it was clear to everyone for well over a month that he wouldn’t be part of the class. Talented player but the more I learned the more surprised I became that he ever committed to ND in the first place.

Not that I care at this point but are we still recruiting him or is the nil money winning the day?

Haha I definitely not soon after saw some crow in sight for me. The kid who was making a documentary going radio silent simultaneously was a telling development for me

So is this something that was missed in vetting or were we caught off guard?

The red flags on this have been out there for a while.

All the inside info says the staff told him if he was interested elsewhere, he wasn't a take. They backed off and so did he.

Some hints of academics being an issue as well.

Seems like it was a both ways divorce.

I don't think this really answers the question. Grades an issue? So missed vetting?

It will be interesting to watch the first few years of recruiting for Freeman as a head coach.

They’re different people for countless reasons, but Brian Kelly went after a lot of kids that didn’t seem like ND fits in his first few classes. There is some truth behind the idea that ND isn’t for everyone, regardless of how talented they are.

I would assume, and I’m only going off assumption, if the grades aren’t good enough they really won’t ever be. Academics probably means classes more than grades. But then again I’m assuming so I’m probably 100% wrong… or at least 60%.

I keep hearing that ND is lagging in NIL money. Do we have facts to back that up, or is it just an assumption because of who BD is? I don’t doubt this assumption, but was curious if we have any actual inside info from either ND or recruits.

The "issue" here is that ND is not prepared to use NIL $$$ the way the likes of A&M and Tennessee are using it - straight paying for commitments.

My understanding is ND is taking the "appropriate and intended" purpose of NIL as in: "Look at what Kyle Hamilton was able to do as a recognizable name at ND. That could be you." or "There is No more marketable person in college football than the quarterback at Notre Dame. Come here and be the man, reap the rewards".

Basically Notre Dame is leaving it up to the kids to earn it, whereas the aforementioned schools are just giving it to the kids up front, which was never the intention of allowing NIL endorsements.

The best that I can describe it is that Texas A&M was ahead of the curve relative to everyone last year, but Texas also had some pretty bold initiatives. Most others didn't start having anyone step up with NIL "contracts" until this year, and didn't start throwing around promises until the end of last cycle. Now a handful of schools are mirroring their model but with more or less cash depending on the institution. Almost everyone has some sort of "collective."

ISD reported that there are some prominent former players and alums who are going to be the face of a sports marketing group // collective that is in the works. They said that there will be one that is focused on taking care of current players and one that is focused on prospective players, and that the one focused on taking care of current players is further along.

What I continue to hear is that ND's admin is the main thing holding back NIL money from flowing // the public announcement of one of these collectives. They do not want to do anything // approve deals that could be considered pay-to-play. ND seems to already be doing a decent job of putting infrastructure in place to take care of guys that are enrolled, because that's a lot easier to do without operating in a gray area. With regard to prospective athletes, it seems that they are being over cautious to establish that any money they get is from a "legitimate business interest" which becomes doubly difficult if the group offering the money were to be a Notre Dame based "collective" or "sports marketing" group. So I'm more skeptical about ND ever being able to do what Tennessee did for Nico, but I'm reasonably confident that they're going to establish a solid NIL program for current members of the team... which is pretty much the spirit and intent of how NIL was supposed to function.
