Not all were at or finished at RB, but all 7 that stayed at Notre Dame were picked in the first 4 rounds. With Levens being drafted in the 5th.

The Heisman Trophy by definition is the Most Outstanding Player. Always has been. Don’t care what Wikipedia says

Should it be the best? Probably. Get Quenton Nelson a Heisman. But it’s not. And the term outstanding gets stretched depending on the year, the media narrative and the candidates. Just always how it’s been.

Heisman has tainted it's own brand contorting "outstanding" to whatever they want in a given year. Total popularity contest driven by media narratives - largely b/c of the homer and/or CTE heavy voting block. Last ten winners included Travis Henry, Davonta Smith and Derrick Henry so some of the QB bias is overblown but the combo bias of QB and high profile team is ridiculous and emblematic of lazy voters. Jeanty should have won by a mile last year. Neon Deon ran a circus in Colorado to get Hunter on the podium. Year long PR campaign he was leveraging to benefit himself and his son.

Had to look up who TF Jason White is - man they lay some turds in that Heisman list. That 2010-2020 stretch of Cam Newton, RGIII, Johnny Manziel, Jamies Winston, Marcus Mariota, Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, Joe Burrow was a Fun bunch of college players - probably colors the QB bias convo for most of us.

Runners up in that span - Andrew Luck, Manti Teo, AJ McCarron, Melvin Gordon, Christian McCaffrey (losing to Henry - what an RB year), Deshaun Watson, Bryce Love, Tua, Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence. For the most part they got a lot right over that span but its damn near impossible to seriously contend if you aren't on a power team.

Can you imagine the NIL and lifetime earnings potential for a Notre Dame Heisman winner? Love's 2nd NFL contract wouldn't matter if we did a better job of hyping him pre-season and showcase a bit more to pad stats where it makes sense. Instead he gets 14 touches against Miami to start the season - lowest touch total of the season.

Most of the hype feels external. I get the team culture but there is recruiting value and NIL value to the Heisman race.

I agree. Maybe it is his size/body type, but he never seemed to wow me at ND. I have to admit I did not expect his level of success in the NFL. Love on the other hand blows my mind every game. If he gets with the right NFL team, I can easily see him being Rookie of the Year.

Such BS to compare what can be a 16 game season with playoff run to 10 game seasons plus a bowl game back in the day. Carr could end up surpassing Brady Quinn's best season of 3919 if we make the championship game and he averages a little over 250 yards per game. #5 best season is Tommy Rees's 3257 - just needs to average 257 over the next three games, pretty much a lock if we win a first round game.
