Remember how we were all pissing ourselves over Oregon and they offered Avery Johnson while Dante was still driving to the airport?
A&M is Oregon with fewer wins.
While I agree in that we read the same, he’s still not committed and maybe it’s what his family and camp is being told by third parties, but I’m not sure I buy the legitimacy of the whole exposure, social media followers leads to any NIL bump of real consequence. When the real millions starting dropping from companies like Bose for example with regard to Caleb Williams, they aren’t gonna care he visited Miami one extra time and got 1,000 followers on IG from it. Any visit he takes is still only downside potential for ND. Silent commits can still do silent decommits just like a public kid.
Yeah. I'm dubious its about social media exposure/NIL potential - like you said does another 1,000 instagram followers who are fans of a school you don't play for really matter? - so much as it is about shopping around and making certain of his choice.
Yes, there is short-term downside for us he goes to A&M and gets dollar signs in his eyes. But long-term Dante looking around now is fine, even a good thing - assuming he chooses Notre Dame in the end. Better to go see those places now, see Oregon and A&M and Miami for what they are, and make a decision with all the facts, rather than have second thoughts when they come calling in November. That is a far better outcome for us.
