It could be the way Landow is going about putting weight on the guys. Injuries are definitely up in the nfl too it seems like

Bothello shredded his knee at Purdue on natural grass. There’s no panacea where ligament tears can be avoided, IMO. Even if ND went back to natural grass, they can’t control for the fact that their opponents & neutral site games are likely to play on field turf.

Then you have the physiology of each individual athlete. Some based on their flexion or lack thereof are more disposed to injury than others.
Of course... This doesn't say it doesn't happen. And I'm not saying natural grass is a cure-all. I am saying ACL tears are more prevalent on turf than grass, and data backs that up.

I always wondered if the elite teams may have less injuries because the super-elite athletes carry their weight better. I once hung out with an Alabama MLB from the Saban golden-era, and he was absolutely massive. Carrying 260 lbs was just not an issue for him on any level.

It would be nice to see each of the Questionable players be in for few snaps as a truer barometer has to their health status for going in the GT game. I figured that Faison would be listed more as Questionable, but nice to see him listed as Probable.

Sucks. Traore has probably been my favorite player to watch develop (he's also from Boston and went to my son's rival HS, so hometown points). Hope he comes back 100 percent next year and just demolishes some QBs.

Vyper is officially in the same boat as OL. What happens if JR and Thomas have productive seasons and Botelho and Traore comeback. Do they go back down the depth chart? Are you going to have a 4 man rotation in '25? A lot of experience coming back next year on the edges if they all return and are completely healthy by fall camp.

OL is already banged up and DE and Vyper is hurting and we haven't played Navy or Army yet which notoriously any time we play option teams we come out with injuries.

Officially out for the year with a left knee injury.

Getting tired of seeing Burnham is probable every week. Same and especially with Rubio. Need a big body in the middle that won’t get pushed back like Mills and Cross and especially Hunnish. Playing Hunnish this much in the middle is like having to play Joe Schmidt at LB. Lots of heart and very undersized.

I've lowered the ceiling I think this team can attain simply due to the amount of injuries to the ol/dl this season. It's beyond what even good teams with depth can overcome.

The only positive is that it builds more depth/ experience for '25 (how Botelho is back), but we're an some emergency situations and not halfway through the season.

Not always, I think both times we played Navy in Dublin we came away basically injury free. Apparently we just need to schedule Option teams in Ireland.

Idk if it was posted here already but Tim Prister on a recent podcast said that the injury was a patellar. Much much worse news than I had originally thought. I know it’s better now but a decade ago this was a career ending injury.

Freeman said torn ACL. Did the patellar snap during his rehab? Because that’s the only possible explanation.

If Freeman wanted to keep the news of Traore’s injury vague, he could have said lower leg - but a torn ACL is a torn ACL, and that’s what he said.

I wonder if Prister misspoke.

Might've been talking about Botelho
I remember when they happened, Botelho's looked much worse. It was like everyone knew immediately it was really bad and I think they carted him off? Traore, IIRC, walked off the field under his own power.

I thought that was Botelho's injury he was talking about?

Well I listened to the podcast last night over some wine but I thought Prister referred to Botelho and Traore and then their injuries respectively as ACL and patellar. I sure hope he misspoke. To be clear everyone did seem to talk like Botelho's injury was more severe so perhaps he did mean Botelho

They've said multiple times on different podcasts Botelho's injury was worse than Traore's and Traore's injury was ACL. They're more concerned that Botelho can return being the player he was at the beginning of this year and they've heard the recovery has been a bit of a struggle/frustrating for him.
