Not the best letter of recommendation
Best recruiting news in a month lol. Potentially cryptic CJ Carr jersey thing aside, ending up with Minchey or Johnson would be a success for the cycle IMO.ISD Intel | Behind The Scenes of Notre Dame Recruiting -- very worth reading. One direct quote:
So they are certainly considering a flip. This is the kind of content that I recommend subscribing to ISD for. No sizzle, direct information from good sources.
Unfortunately I highly doubt that we’re pushing hard for him (or Minchey).17-of-20 for 277 yards and six touchdowns in a 49-0 win this past weekend.
His team is 3-0.
Not sure why I remember this so clearly but Im pretty sure it was Last of the Mohicans. Not to mention the Braveheart soundtrack in his high school film. That was a sick choice.
What makes you say this?Unfortunately I highly doubt that we’re pushing hard for him (or Minchey).
There hasn't been any intel about Rees and company pushing hard for Johnson and Minchey, visits being set up, etc. All of his eggs are in the Carr reclassification basket, IMO.What makes you say this?
If true, another chalk in the fire him columnThere hasn't been any intel about Rees and company pushing hard for Johnson and Minchey, visits being set up, etc. All of his eggs are in the Carr reclassification basket, IMO.
Absolutely, and him reclassifying puts us behind the 8-ball with 2024 QB's. I haven't seen anything about any of the top-tier QB's even visiting ND in the chance that Carr reclassifies. If true, another chalk in the fire him column
Just like they knew Moore was coming? What if they know Carr is reclassifying?
If Rees knows Carr is reclassifying then it’s a wrap that Carr is staying in high school. What if they know Carr is reclassifying?
The thing is, if they knew CJ was reclassifying, then why aren't we hearing about top-tier 2024 QB's visiting or Rees pushing hard to land them? Apparently Tommy can not only send out more than one offer at a time but he can only recruit 1 QB at a time as well.Just like they knew Moore was coming?

They need to resolve the Carr reclassifying question, and do it publicly, ASAP. Frankly surprised they haven’t already as the uncertainty seems to have frozen QB recruiting in both classes. (Unclear if it’s Rees who’s frozen or if recruits aren’t biting bc they’re not sure which class Carr will be in, but the effect is the same). The thing is, if they knew CJ was reclassifying, then why aren't we hearing about top-tier 2024 QB's visiting or Rees pushing hard to land them? I feel like the “Carr is reclassifying” is the new “don’t worry, we will get some portal WR’s before the season starts”. Hopeful, or delusional that our offensive staff couldn’t possible be so incompetent and unprepared. What if they know Carr is reclassifying?
There was zero movement before the Marshall game either. Soon as that August dead period ended I was expecting to hear "Minchey schedules a visit." "Johnson schedules a visit." "Various '24 QBs schedule visits." Whatever. But it's been crickets.Or simply our terrible QB play is scaring people off
Or they are waiting to see who our next offense coordinator is
well according to above rees is an idiot if he reclassifies and an idiot if he doesnt so Rees is just an idiot. But then lets leave the Carr discussion out of it if were just concluding idiot.I feel like the “Carr is reclassifying” is the new “don’t worry, we will get some portal WR’s before the season starts”. That is all valid for this class for sure. Freeman will likely learn is lesson from this year. However the problem I have with Rees is the current QB room. Whether Carr reclassifies or not the QB situation is dire. Having Allar or McCarthy right now would be huge.well according to above rees is an idiot if he reclassifies and an idiot if he doesnt so Rees is just an idiot. And if were going to be real about all this. This is Marcus Freeman's team, so regardless on how Rees is handling things Freeman is the one who needs to have a handle of it and be the decision maker on how we recruit the position (all positions).
If we want to say Rees fucked the Dante recruitment by trusting their family, then that blame needs to fall on Freeman too because he could have said "hey we need to keep recruiting others" but that didnt happen. If we want to blame Rees for putting all his eggs in teh reclassification basket and not working 24 harder, then where does Freeman's input come in and say "wth we doing with the 24 class?" and vice versa on no-reclassification.

So if it fails is the HC still not responsible for giving that autonomy? There is no scenario in this were Freeman ultimately isnt responsible in some fashion. It is his ship to steer.Idk. There's been a lot of discussion about Rees's autonomy and MF focusing on the defensive side of the ball, thus making Tommy the offensive head coach. If that is all true, it's pretty easy to pin 99.9% of this on Rees.
Clemson's QB play was horrible last season and they signed a 5* QB in 2022 and have another 5* QB commit in 2023.Or simply our terrible QB play is scaring people off
Or they are waiting to see who our next offense coordinator is
Oh, absolutely. It's not MF's fault that Swarbrick bent over backwards, for some strange reason, to keep Rees on staff before he got the HC gig, but he shouldn't have given Tommy autonomy with the offense. Hopefully MF learns his lesson and replaces Tommy in the offseason. He said that "talent acquisition" is the key thing, and in addition to being a meh OC and talent evaluator, Tommy is the only one on the staff who hasn't pulled his weight in recruiting for the 2023 class. So if it fails is the HC still not responsible for giving that autonomy? There is no scenario in this were Freeman ultimately isnt responsible in some fashion. It is his ship to steer.
ND has multiple years of blue chip QB recruits crashing and burning and or not working out at QB - Christ, Golson, Hendrix, Zaire, Kid who transferred to Cinci, Wimbush, Jurkovich, Davis and now increasingly looking like Buchner.Clemson's QB play was horrible last season and they signed a 5* QB in 2022 and have another 5* QB commit in 2023.
Absolutely. I'm just simply pointing out that it would appear much of this mess is self-inflicted over multiple years. MF will have an opportunity to evaluate and make necessary changes come season's end. He will have to live with the consequences, for better or wose, of those decisions. So if it fails is the HC still not responsible for giving that autonomy? There is no scenario in this were Freeman ultimately isnt responsible in some fashion. It is his ship to steer.
Without looking at the rankings, most of Clemson's QBs have been higher ranked than ND's in that same time period.ND has multiple years of blue chip QB recruits crashing and burning and or not working out at QB - Christ, Golson, Hendrix, Zaire, Kid who transferred to Cinci, Wimbush, Jurkovich, Davis and now increasingly looking like Buchner. That’s a pretty terrible track record and grounds to can pretty much everyone has been involved in the evaluation and development process over the years.
Clemson has had good to great QB play the majority of the time Debo has been the coach.
