The autonomous Rees thing has reached levels where let’s just take a step back and think about it for a second. People seem surprised Freeman gives input on the offense during the game. Now we have to even debate that Freeman, the guy who said he’d be the lead recruiter for every single kid, is involved in QB recruiting. Of course he is! He’s the Head ******* Coach. Let’s use some common sense.

If not just by logic, Moore and Carr both 100% have mentioned significant and frequent conversations with Freeman just to back up the rant with the real info.

If you’re a main target at any spot, you’re talking to your coordinator/position coach, Bowden or Brown, and Freeman frequently in this recruiting era.
It's been clear that MF has a hand in game plan/offensive identity as well as recruiting. No question he'll have to take much/most of the blame as a HC when things don't work out. There just seems to be too much data to support BK and his list of QB coaches as being anything resembling elite --> which includes Rees and how he's handling things now.

ND has multiple years of blue chip QB recruits crashing and burning and or not working out at QB - Christ, Golson, Hendrix, Zaire, Kid who transferred to Cinci, Wimbush, Jurkovich, Davis and now increasingly looking like Buchner.

It’s also kinda crazy that 2 of the best 3 QB’s during that period didn’t receive much coaching from the ND staff before taking over the team (Kizer and Coan) and the best of the bunch statistically (Book) basically plateaued his first season. That’s grounds to can everyone that has been involved in the evaluation and development process at that position.

Clemson on the other hand has had good to great QB play the majority of the time Debo has been the coach.
This guy crashed and burned so hard it rendered him nameless. And as we all know, chestless.

And yes, if Debo is your coach, you're going to make all the throws or else.

Hell Kizer was close to quitting football & playing baseball before he put up that awesome 2015 campaign in relief. Golson decides to leave after Spring practice before ND names a starter so Kizer goes from scout team to backup and the rest is history.

Meh, I don't know if I'd classify as good news outside of the fact at least we know they are pushing for a QB. Hard to get excited about a visit to Johnson if he doesn't reciprocate in one. And honestly, KSU may be a better fit. The offense they're running now is exactly what his skillset is perfect for, whereas he doesn't seem to fit Tommy's scheme at all.

The question would be does Avery Johnson want to, while possibly be successful, be indefinitely scrambling and show no signs of being a NFL QB?

Has a chance to start right away next year at K State. Getting NIL money from them. Why would he come here? (devils advocate)
I'm more concerned with the fact that we haven't heard anything about them pushing hard for other 2024 QB's and working to set up visits. I don't see any way that Carr doesn't reclassify and wind up as the 2023 QB.

K-State is not a joke of a program that it used to be.

This is all such a mess since they didn’t take a transfer this year which exposed such a thin QB room.

I think Rees would be better spending time getting his playbook more simplified and getting Tobias on the field.

At this point all logic points to getting a Transfer QB for next season to bring immediate stability and competition to QB room. A freshman QB doesn’t do that.

TBF, we haven't showed many signs of developing a competent NFL QB in recent memory.

I think they're bringing in a grad transfer QB regardless of who they sign at the position in the 2023 class. My guess is Tommy isn't here, either.

Our last two QBs are at least on practice squads playing QB.

Klein was asked to be a TE the second he graduated. Not sure what Martinez future will hold, maybe Sean Payton will come back and draft him lol.

I think you are correct. Grad-transfer seems the only solution.

Adrian Martinez going off in back-to-back games (one being a high profile opponent) has to make that position in their offense even more attractive. Wouldn’t be surprised if Avery started next season at KSU if he early enrolls.

He would get more NIL money from Notre Dame then KState, just nothing up front. We have the largest fanbase in football
If you can show me any ND guys or previous guys making over a million, I will agree agree with you. ND guys are making money, but nothing remotely close to other schools.

There is one True Freshman starting QB in P5 right now and he's at Vanderbilt. He took over QB1 in Week 3.

Johnson starting next year at KSU would be quite an accomplishment.
Don't act like you knew that. You had to find that tweet and copy an paste it.

Thats all good, but what I said is completely true. Hes not starting here next year. Hell its probably years down the road from possibly doing that. He's from Kansas. Getting money. Solid program now. They wanted him the whole time and was their top guy. ND slow played and is there like 4-5th choice.

It's been posted on quite a few other threads somewhat recently. I don't think he had to go hunting for it.

It would be a major accomplishment. But not sure what K-State has waiting in the wings

Exactly. K State doesn't have 4 star/ top 10 QBs running through their doors very often. He's going to play there. Simple. That said, all I was doing was playing both sides. I hope he comes to ND.

People understate how much FUND is paying ND players. That with Mayer’s other deals with Rhoback and Levi’s def get him close to a million if not over. He also got a brand new Dodge Ram in a deal. Not sure if that’s a lease or what.

I didn't know it until yesterday. So I know it today. It's not relevant?

You said he has a chance to start right away. Odds are he ain't gonna, so I'm saying based on this newfound nugget of info I stumbled upon 24 hours ago, if he does it will be an accomplishment because it's not entirely likely he will.

The dude behind Adrian Martinez is 6-5/235 and he played a bit last year. They also have three freshmen on their roster.

He's got lease from Bobilya Chrysler/Dodge. No Dodge Ram NIL deal

That's pretty much all these car deals. Manufacturers aren't doing NIL deals its the dealerships and when you see a kid in his new Lambo, that's not his to keep, he gets to use it for a year or two.
