Bowen will be on the field nearly every snap in non obvious pass downs. In context, that’s 66% of plays from a year ago. If he sees the field for basically any passing downs which he still will, he’s playing the large majority of the game.

That's absolutely false. It could be 5% but there's a chance. He's a thumper and a solid MLB but what if Sneed elevates his game so much, they determine he has to be one of the 2 LBs in nickel? You don't think KVA would displace Bowen?

All of this is silly speculation but it's worth considering. I don't think there is anything athletically that Bowen has over KVA.

But, having said that, I love Drayk and I hope he takes his game to another level because he arrives with bad intentions and talks mad shit to the opposition. I love having guys like that.

Sorry but I’ll stick to zero chance barring injury. Sneed thrived as the third LB or DE. He was not thriving in very many sets playing just a classic WILL spot. I agree KVA is best equipped to not leave the field. I think Sneed and Bowen will often be on the field together, not Sneed taking from Bowen. Freeman has tended to have a Bowen like guy on his defenses, and I see his leadership only increasing, snaps to go with it now that Kiser departs.

What is the potential for Bowen to get the 3rd-4th most snaps out of the LB corps next season? It's got to be a sneaky good bet.

KVA is going to lock down a spot, no question. Sneed really looked like a difference maker in the playoffs, which means the needle is pointing up more than ever during his time in South Bend. Bowen has some experience but doesn't have the flexibility to play other positions, prototypical 'Mike'. Ausberry seemed to get washed out on a lot of critical plays in the postseason. I don't know if that was a fluke or he's just overmatched against the better OLs but he looked to have a lot of difficulty getting off blocks.

Faraimo has potential to steal snaps.

Zinter, Kia, Rezac are unknown to me.

I think Bowen is a solid LB in the middle, I just wonder if there is a better combo of LBs to be running in nickel?

Bowen has sat behind/learned from Bertrand and Kizer & next year is his time. I would agree with you that KVA is a starter and I would start Bowen making him top 3 LB's to get the most snaps.

For me with Sneed- can he be a difference maker game 1 next season?

I thought Ausberry played well last season- can he be a dark horse and surprise?

Faraimo is going to be the KVA of the 24 team.

The LB position has a lot of young guys and ND is prepped for the future.

I'll eat my mistakes on my above post.

Just saw this from PFF regarding the 101 highest graded players in CFB in 2024:

"Bowen emerged as one of the best young linebackers in college football this season. His 80.7 overall grade was a top-20 mark in the Power Four this season. He was already an elite tackler as a true sophomore, as he missed just five tackles in his 16 games. Bowen will be one of the top returners at his position in 2025." - Bowen

There's the link for anyone who'd like to read it. Seems like we have a good chance of adding a number of add'l players to that list.

Bowen will be the primary green dot on defense. No way he doesn’t lead the linebacking crew in snaps played.

I think just about every school in the country would swap linebacker rooms with us.

Bowen/KVA/Sneed/Ausberry/Faraimo is pretty talented group.
And Kia, Rezac and Zinter

There has been some positivity leak out about each of them with Rezac being the most recent. Apparently the staff is high on him, even though there is a logjam right now. Kia and Zinter have received praise at various times.

Grant could be a really good player if he continues to keep his weight in check.

ND football is once again forming a true physcial identity, except there’s soeed and length to go with it.

Master class on how to:
1. Learn quickly on the job as a bew coach
2. Surround yourself with professionals in every aspect of the program
3. Construct a deep, talented, and athletic roster
4. Do things the right way and still be successful

Young men like Drayk have been a huge part of this.

Dont forget Sacca. I think he's got as much upside as anyone

Best athletes aren't always the best linebackers. DB has instincts and plays with more violence at the position than probably and middle LB we've had in the past decade
