Yeah, 16 weeks (your words) and it’s March. Like I said there’s no reason to panic and assume he’s not a huge factor this year. Appreciate the downvote though.

It's almost like you had no idea what you are talking about

We're all guessing. I can't predict another set back if that's what this is. If there's not a set back I'd disagree with Matt Freeman's opinion unless he has direct info. If there's not been another set back I still think he plays this year and before mid season. But if there was all best are off.

But downvoting a speculative opinion is weak sauce (especially an optimistic one).

No, you are guessing and assume everyone else is, some of us actually have experience treating similar injuries.

Ok Doctor, is there a complication with the March 18th surgery? If not, can you spell out his timeline to contact?

Starting to think based on previous reports and now this that he might've had a bad staff infection from the surgery. Pure speculation but I know that can totally derail recoveries if not treated immediately and properly

You're the doc and I'm not, but that's why our ortho guy (without knowing the all the exact details) was targeting a very cautious, November return, if at all. So many potential complications associated with the infection, subsequent bone growth, strength and conditioning and even the mental aspect of getting back and trusting it... Based on what I was told, I always assumed that it would be a late 2026 return, or a re-evaluation for 2027 and beyond.

I hope the family members of some people in this thread remain healthy because I wouldn't want some of you crusty shits around me if I were not 100%. A can of mustard gas has better bedside manner.

My assumption here is the staff and everyone within the program is showing this person the care and encouragement he needs and deserves.

This is the rub. Even given on schedule recvovery he will not have done any upper body S&C in over a year. If he was playing any other position than OL it probably wouldn't be as big of a deal, but going from a year of atrophy to holding off 300+ lb DTs at a high level in the span a few months is an unrealistic expectation.

They had to perform antibiotic intervention due to a severe infection from debris and soil entering the wound. This was after a 3hr cleanout of the soil and debris from the wound, must've been like falling in the Sahara desert.

Is Matt pretty plugged in with the team or is this just his opinion?
About as plugged in as it gets (unfortunately in this case). He's not speculating.

We may all be pleasantly surprised and he plays this year, but medical retirement has to be on the table at this point.
