As long as he is uncommitted, there is still that chance.

If he is not a visitor for the OSU-Michigan game next week that will be a shock.

It seems like he's been a Bama lean since he visited in June, why not commit? Bama's Will Anderson was a Heisman contender earlier this season, not anymore. Is Bama's losing hurting them?

Maybe some of us just don't want to "move the fuck on."

Freeman gonna sneak in on this one......

He can wait as long as he wants. No program is full for him.

As other posters have mentioned throughout the last few pages, he can keep waiting it out for bigger and more lucrative NIL deals.

The long con is always the best con.

Is there any proof he is all about the NIL or is that just what everyone is saying bc we lost him?

I agree we need to up our NIL game, especially for the biggest fish. But we appear to have beaten upfront NIL programs for several good players this cycle. Love (A&M). Gray (LSU). Limar (Oregon). Hopefully Bowen (A&M). There are probably others.
Sooo what game do you mean? Paying kids and family members to come to unofficial? Paying kids up front to sign? Because those are like the only two things that violate the NIL rules at this point. All we can do is offer a potential for earnings and deals and then start paying them when they sign and arrive on campus. Otherwise we’ s need to invest in some bagmen.

Agreed with you—paying upfront no holds barred is a great way to get burned in a few different ways.

I do wish we had some way to structure some “skin in the game” from the player/family so we could satisfy some demand for bird-in-hand cash on day 1 while also incentivizing players to be in it for the long haul as their brands grow/earn out.

Unfortunately I have a hard time seeing clawbacks/forgivable loans etc. going very far in this arena especially when the alternatives are bags-for-visit, no strings attached, etc.

Proof? Solid concrete proof out of his own lips? No. But did his recruitment change radically when his uncle took things over and he suddenly became interested in schools dropping the bag? Yes.

I’m still unaware of how much these kids are ACTUALLY making. Like shouldn’t there be some sort of publically accessible database where their deals that are self reported to the school and the school self reports to the NCAA that we can access? Lol

Also I expect Many players promised things that aren’t delivered upon to have no real allegiance to the school(s) that offered them these insane packages up front. Not sure that’s a game that ND will ever win.

If it was all about the NIL wouldn’t he have visited A&M? Tennessee? Oregon? Miami?

Alabama is the best team in the country and OSU isn’t paying anyone.

I believe it’s not all about NIL but it did put the nail in the coffin. He visited Florida a view months after committing, Bama in January, visits in Spring and then finally summer came. He visited other places during every open period to do so. This didn’t change on a dime in August.

Yep. NIL is probably A factor in his flipping away from us but we’re deluding ourselves to think it was THE factor.
Bama and OSU don’t need big NIL to be appealing to a kid like Keeley. To the extent they’ll offer more upfront than we do though, that’s icing on the cake.

It would be fascinating to know if the uncle was brought in by the family or if a school encouraged him intervene. Recruiters and recruiting just seems like a dirty job trying to convince 16, 17 year olds of anything and then he lengths they go to do it. If there was complete transparency nobody would be able to watch the sport in good faith.

Besides Keeley are there any top recruits still uncommitted?

It seems like once a big time recruit was given their NIL offer, they gave their verbal.

I get that the NIL could be a factor in Keeley's recruitment and his uncle is playing a role, but Keeley still being uncommitted after seeing Bama and OSU doesn't seem right.

Yep. Can't wait until Thursday. I'll give you a snippet of what the rest of us are going to hear:

1. H***** B****'s laptop.
2. The McCaskey Family (Chicago Bears owners) is "cheap." Later, we find all athletes are overpaid, including those paid by....the McCaskeys.
3. Taxes. Property, sales, income. (This will lead to a discussion that involves hypoethically moving which we've been hearing for nearly 30 years yet they all still live in Illinois and won't leave)
4. Various landscaping discussions ranging from lawn care to leaves, leaf burning and Uncle John's weeping willow tree is as old as Earth.
5. Don't like soccer, but they'll talk about soccer and how they're not watching soccer.
