Great addition to the WR room.

This group should produce quite a bit for Freeman and Company.

There are likely going to be WRs with more athleticism in the room, faster 40s, bigger vertical jumps but Rico would be my pick right now for the most PT as a freshman. His route running is dirt mcgirt. His hands are top notch and his willingness to go up and grab the ball in traffic is coveted by staff.

Hope to see more of him blocking because if he can do that and get in the playbook, this man could be a serious piece towards our natty aspirations.

If I was going to make an ND comparison, he makes me think of TJ Jones a little bit but that's based on memory. TJ seemed like a good route runner (probably not as good as Flores coming out of HS).

Why couldn't ND get rid of Del sooner? Makes you wonder what WR talent ND could've brought in.

Welcome to ND! Impressive of who ND still could get with no QB committed to this class.

Del would have had a good class with the elite recruiting machine Freeman has set up. Hell Andy, you and I coulda landed 3 three stars with this staff's support. Krian Belly just had a G5 approach to recruiting.

That said, I'm glad all the bad habits & Low-T expectations of the last regime are gone.

The more & more I hear about KB/BK and how he recruited vs. how Freeman is recruiting it is ND's gain. This current staff is better than any staff Belly boy ever had at ND.

Love the TJ comp but TJ was a monster coming out of GA. Rico's longer, probably has more physical tools to work with but TJ had a bloodline and support system any 5 star would kill for.

Hopefully Rico tops TJ's ND output but TJ's targets were limited by all-time ND legends, he coulda been a 3x 1000 yarders in recent years.

“Belly Boy” as you call him won a lot of games at ND.
Charlie, the real Belly Boy, recruited even better than Freeman, and couldn’t win.
I’m holding off on Freeman’s staff until they win. I’ve seen a lot of great recruiters who couldn’t coach.

Very few are anointing Freeman a great head coach, because most logically know he has to prove himself. The praise has been his recruiting, and that is where he is doing very well so far. As for Brian Kelly, being a good coach is not an excuse for underperforming in recruiting. It’s normal to take jabs at a coach who could have done more on the trail.
Everyone wants this guy to succeed and the expectations are sky high, logic be damned. He needs to win a title to meet expectations imo.

I want Marcus to win every game he ever coaches at ND.
But I’m very weary of fans acting like recruiting success equals wins without coaching.
And fans acting like BK couldn’t coach, or develop, or was a horrible recruiter.

Exactly. I see Rico being a fantastic option but possibly not our #1 in any given year. If he maxes out, he could be a 800-1000 yd receiver for us multiple times. This will keep defenses honest while Colzie, Merriweather or some other breakout WR is taking the #1 spot (or TE given how great our TEs have been).

Weis brought in more high end talent on offense but did not recruit at a higher level on both sides of the ball.

Based on his technique and intelligence, if he were to add tremendous strength and speed with training he’d be rather unstoppable. I’m not sure how much speed you can add. I’m assuming it’s trainable. I do know more about strength and it’s really sky’s the limit. A dedicated weight room effort over a two year period can make you a monster. But, most don’t do that.
